Such a great show. Did you get to the one where he records the voice commands for the nuclear submarine?

Not yet - looking up the episode list, that's the next one.

I saw the pilot episode ages ago but haven't gotten around to watching the series proper until now. I'm kicking myself for waiting - I love Matt Berry, the writing is great and the right amount of absurd, and it looks like they have some perfect guest stars ahead.

On the topic of Daisy Ridley cameos, I remember her being in an episode of Mr. Selfridge too, in a very minor cameo doing an unintentionally funny New York flapper accent.

I loved her in the Orient Express.

I still wish she'd been Lara Croft too.

So, in one alternate timeline, Rey was a New York socialite, and in another Poe Dameron and Ben Solo worked together on a song about flying in outer space. :p

Working in retail, Funko Pops are a menace. Especially when out of a case, the only broken one is the chase figure.

Okay, got through the next few episodes. I loved the submarine one, and that was even before the completely left field alien abduction plotline. Next one also gold, between the erotic novel starring Henry VIII and a Guardian columnist, Toast's confusion over who Harry Potter is, and the dubbed 1970s Doctor Who scene. Just started the next season and I'm actually impressed they got David Arnold to do a Bond parody for the opening.

I also just realized that Clem Fandango is Dr. Jekyll from Penny Dreadful.

The best thing, though, was when Poe Dameron was a Roman prefect.

I preferred him as a Sinister but brilliant Billionaire who creates AI and hires Hux to do personality tests on her

I liked when Lor San Tekka was the Devil.

No, not that one time, the other time. No, the other other time. Oh, for Christ's sake, how many times did he play ... wait, he was Christ, too?

    I give up.

This is actually a really, really good film and it's a shame it's so unknown. I think it's the only classical-era movie I've seen that's not either about Jesus or a standard sword-and-sandal epic.

Of all the sequel-era new actors, Oscar Isaac had the most prolific career by far - I think hypothetically if the sequel trilogy had never happened, he's probably the only one who would have broken out. Which isn't a dig on the other new ST actors at all, just a sad state that without a big studio even talent can't rise to the top (at least partly due to those big studios).

Hannah John-Kamen's career has started taking off since she cameo'd in TFA, though I would assume that probably wasn't the reason. If anything I think she got the TFA role due to her work in Game of Thrones, since it and TFA/TLJ had the same casting director, hence all the crossovers.

Agora. As Brule said, great movie. Late antiquity doesn’t get much attention.

It’s about Hypatia and so as you can imagine, not a happy film.

I appreciate that it avoids the preachy biblical morality tale stuff that you get in most sword-and-sandal type films, whether they’re explicitly religious or not. Religion is a big part of the film of course — but it’s not a Sunday school type of movie.
