I have to wonder, per Rogue One, were the Deviant and Heartbound named in the novelisation to have participated in the Battle of Scarif meant to be two of the three EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigates?

Impossible to say. They could just as easily be names of the 3+ Dornean gunships we saw, the other Hammerhead corvettes, or the 6+ CR90 corvettes.

And yet, they still fit perfectly as Nebulon-Bs in my mind.

Anyone else think both the resistance shuttle and new first order shuttle from TLJ are pretty disappointing designs?

I'm actually a big fan of the Xi-class shuttle, I think it's more meant to be a TIE Shuttle replacement than a Lambda-class one. I actually think it's a bit more interesting than the Upsilon-class, the excessively large wings and low interior capacity design never made much sense to me.
The resistance shuttles are a bit "boring" to look at, they don't really have any interesting angles or features. I always tought they looked much more like city buses than military transport crafts because of their large windows, more like something you'd see on Coruscanti skies.
Still, I think the TIE/fo and TIE/sf will keep their places as the most disappointing ST designs for me.

Everything in the ST was boring. It seems to follow the script-writing. :p

My biggest issue with most of the designs is originality.
Sometimes, they managed to take old, reconizable shapes while also turning them into something that looks new (T-70, Resurgent, Raddus), other times, not so much (RZ-2 A-Wing, FO TIEs).
Brand new designs like the Mandator IV, Upsilon and Nebulon K are bit of a hit-and-miss.

Nebulon B looks beautiful to me. It's new younger brother the Nebulon K looks quite ugly to me...
I just wish we got some totally new designs that weren't based on anything in the OT and were completely original and cool again.

Sorry, meant Nebulon C and I suppose Snafu did too. .
It's worth to note that a Nebulon K fan art ended up in comic, altough the fact that it was used by the rebel alliance makes me doubt it's supposed to be a K.

Oh sorry, I meant the Nebulon C as well... a really ugly design.

Why the heck is the Nebulon-C not just the Nebulon-K anyway? Only answer I can think of is "Resistance uses outdated tech", but it's not like it played a big role in the movie either way.

Because the First Order uses the Nebulon-K, which would mean that it’s newer than what the Resistance has access to. Also, the Nevulon-K was made specifically for the First Order in secret if I recall.

Personally, I think the Nebulon C looks a lot cooler than its Legends equivalent, the Corona-class frigate.

Completely disagree. The Nebulon-C looks like a shipwrecked earlier, weaker version of a Nebulon-B. It should have been called a Nebulon-A imho. The Corona-class frigate looks like an bulked up Nebulon-B, stronger and more aggressive.

Well, we don't have an official, non-cartoony-line-drawing illustration. I like this Corona fanart better: [IMG]

Anyway, the Anodyne circa TLJ is 25 years old and falling apart. Imagine that thing in its glory.

I do imagine how the C would look new, and it still pales in comparison to my imagination of the B when new :p.

The newest issue of Thrawn had some new and familiar ships in it (also two Stargate ships, lmao)

And these are the two Stargate ships, the Daedalus below, and the ship above is a fan design, that I don't remember the name of.

I am the opposite....the number of smaller ships that could be produced for the cost/materials of one SSD would give more flexibility.

A lot of those ships look familiar
One seems to be a old republic Ebon Hawk type ship, another looks like a a little like the old Strike Class crossed with the GR-75. And what is that odd liking one that seems to split in 2?

Alright guys, this is a bit off topic, but, I thought I would share it with you guys. My friend and I today made up what we think is the perfect Rebel Alliance fleet for the 1 ABY-3 ABY range. So, here it is, tell me what you think. Also, credit to Mel Miniatures for creating the MC20 and Sullestan Dreadnought, I've always wanted names and close of up images of those background ships!

    2 MC80 Home One-type Cruisers
    3 MC80 Liberty-type Cruisers
    2 Nebulon-B Frigates
    6 CR90 Corvettes
    4 Braha’tok Gunships
    3 DP20 Frigates
    12 GR-75 Medium Transports
    3 Sphyrna-class Corvettes
    5 Nova Couriers
    2 Rebel Tankers

If you liked the ships of the OT, I'm not sure why anyone would consider the ST ships boring, especially those featured in TLJ. I am partial to Mon Cal ships, so I loved the Raddus - and equally the Profundity from RO. TLJ had some great Resistance support ships like the Ninka or those bombers - loved the design.
