Muskegon Fury Hockey Game----March 15, 2008

Brent Ashcroft and Myself met with Terry Ficorelli and Chrissy Pearce of The Muskegon Fury hockey team.

Brent sent them links to pics and YouTube videos of our Whitecaps and Griffons events from the past. Chrissy actually spent the time to look at all of it! I brought the Whitecaps jersey and photos from the Whitecaps event.
Shortly after our lunch meeting, I got word from Chrissy that we have the go ahead for Star Wars night on March 15th, 2008!
I know this is a way's out, but you can never have enough advance notice!
Chrissy and Terry are very excited about having the 501st come out and do our thing!
They will also look to see which local Muskegon charity we can work for.
A bar/restaurant is right next door for an after party (these details are important... ) and a hotel is one block away. They will see if they can get us comped or heavily discounted rooms for those of us who have to travel.
Many ideas where passed back and forth. I'm glad the planning is starting now, so they and us can be prepared for another awesome event.
Humper... they WANT the skating stormtrooper and said, they'd arm you with the T-shirt cannon!
All in all, an awesome first meeting with The Muskegon Fury!

Star Wars Night
Saturday, March 15th vs. Kwings
Game Time 7:30 pm – doors open at 6:30 pm
Leading up to promotion:
Fury will:
Secure prizes for giveaways during game. We will create Star Wars Trivia and award prizes to fans in the stands.
Secure a charity to benefit from this night. Charity will advertise and assist with game night events.
Secure hotel room rates for 501st members. Talk to Racquets to arrange a pre and post game offer for members. Hotel - Holiday Inn across street.
Create flyers to promote this event. – need Star Wars Logo.
Download music to promote event and play during event.
We will need a tee shirt design from the 501st. We will send design to Lucas Film for approval and have 1000 tees made up.
We will have tee shirts signed by the players for raffle at the gift shop – many pa’s during game advertising this.
Pre Sale of Game:
501st members on hand on Sunday, March 9th to help advertise our Star Wars night to the many fans attending our Sunday Kid’s Day game. Characters to hand out flyers at both exits as fans leave the building. This game starts at 2:00 pm and will end around 5:00 pm.
Fury will advertise game with Star Wars theme in radio spots and during games leading to event. Tee shirt auction, photo booth character appearances included.
Fans under the age of 18 (youth ticket) dressing in Star Wars costumes will receive 1 free ticket to the game on March 15th. Fury will create a voucher to use at Box Office.
Day of Game:
Fury will secure 2 dressing rooms for characters to get into costume. Characters will check in at Fury gift shop and be escorted by Fury staff to rooms.
Tickets/game passes will be given to characters at this time.
Characters outside of both entrances at 6:00pm distributing free ticket vouchers to fans (youth – under 1 dressing in costume.
Photo booth will be set up and ready to go at 6:30 pm (door open) behind section 116. Fury will relocate Booster Club for this event. Stanchions will be set up near outer wall on concourse.
Plenty of room for banner – many pa’s to encourage fans to visit.
The first 500 fans through the doors will receive a free tee shirt. 500 for sale at $5 each at gift shop. All tee shirt proceeds to charity.
10 autographed Raffle tees on display and raffle to take place at gift shop. Raffle winners announced during 3rd period and tees picked up at gift shop post game.
$1 per ticket or 6 for $5. All raffle money generated to charity.
Star Wars theme will play at game opener. Darth in doorway with smoke/lights behind. Lights out.
Character to play anthem on guitar from tunnel door.
Fury to figure out mic/amp for this.
Darth Vader will drop the 1st puck – we will have a runner for Darth to use – photographers on ice.
2 (or more) characters will accompany our prize patrol during game to award prizes.
We’ll let you know when we will do the chicken dance so all characters, regardless of location, can participate. YMCA too.
1st Intermission:
Fury will create an on –ice game including characters and costumed kids.
Broomball? Ice Race? Light Saber dual?
2nd Intermission:
After chuck a puck skating Storm trooper will shoot tees from our tee shirt gun. Characters on ice assisting kids with chuck a puck pick up.

Not only do they want the skating trooper to do his thing, they also want Skinny to play the National Anthem on his guitar while in Clone Armor!!!
Chrissy's detailed plan is an outstanding template...
She's really a sharp person and is completely on this event...
Let's think of other ways we can generate $$$ for the charity aside from the photo booth... Maybe the shooting gallery could be an option for this event? Maybe we pass the bucket thru the stands...
Chrissy is going to contact LucasFilm and try to get permission to have Star Wars/Muskegon Fury T-Shirts made.. which can be sold the night of the event with all the proceeds going to the charity... We may need the services of Mr. Scott Withers to take the Muskegon Fury Logo and come up with some art work for Chrissy to forward to LFL...
All in all, this is very good news for us..
Also, the second annual Star Wars night at the Griffins has been approved... Griffins got back with me about that Tuesday night... The Griffins have not yet decided on a date but as soon as Chrissy confirmed 3/15/08 for the Fury event, I emailed the Griffins to let them know that date is now booked...
It'd be ironic if the Griffins wanted to do it on 3-15-08 as well...
This event will be coordinated by Ripcode since he lives in Muskegon and can meet with the Fury much easier than anybody else...
Please circle 3-15-08 on your calendars and come be a part of what will no doubt be another big event for us...

Update for the Fury game. I'm going to put it here. Here is the information on the t-shirts for the Fury game.

The prices are:
Full color t-shirts $20 are each (Size XL Only)
Black & white t-shirts are $10 each (Sizes from youth small to adult 2XL)
The proceeds of these shirts go to charity!
If you can't make it to the game but want a shirt, I can buy shirts for you!
Payment has to be by 03/14/08. PayPal or Money order.
