As a fan I'm super excited that Revenge of the Sith is PG-13. As a father, I'm deeply saddened. My kids can name all of the characters in the Star Wars movies and love the films but there's no way they'll be able to see this film. This isn't a new conversation, I remember writing about it
way back in 1999. Here's an email I just got this morning from a former TFN Staffer that needs to be shared for perspective as well.

I read your review of the movie, and it made me realise that I will NOT be seeing Ep III. Yup, Nic, who's enough of a SW fan to have been a TFN staffer for a while, a forum administrator, a 501st member, will not be going to Ep 3. Not the premiere, nor subsequent days. I won't see it.
I've stayed spoiler free for Ep 3, after having been totally spoiled as a TFN staffer for Ep 2. I don't know what happens in the movie other than the obvious (the twins, Anakin being Vader, that's about it). I didn't even go to starwars.com for the last 2 years. I stayed away. Why? Because I do not want my 'enjoyment' of Vader to be spoiled. Vader has been voted one of the best villain in movies quite a few times. I do not wish to explore him further. There is enough grey in our daily lives. We keep hearing defense attorneys and psychologists finding reasons for bad behaviour. "This murderer was abused as a child, take pity on him". "This tyrant was a patron to the arts, he's not all bad". Even Hitler had a movie humanising him lately
("Der Untergang"). I do agree that, in life, there's more grey than black and white (that's if there is any black and white!), however the Star Wars saga, especially the films, are not about grey. In the first trilogy, it's definitely the good guys against the bad guys. The dichotomy is clear. Even people like Lando end up choosing sides after trying to stay neutral. I do not want my Vader to be explained, humanised, pitied. I want to keep seeing Luke as a hopeless dreamer who thinks he can get his dad to turn back to the light side, against all good sense. I fear I will now see him as those modern psychologists who see good in the worst of mankind.
By reading an article on a news site on the web, I was given an
inkling of the violence in the new film, why it's now a PG-13, instead of just PG. Again, this reinforces my reasons not to see the movie. I do not want those images in my mind. I am a mom, as such, I have developped a profound attachment to kids. I know myself, I know that movie images tend to haunt me for a very long time. I know my limits. I will stay away and keep Starwars the way it was when there was only the first trilogy.
And this brings me to my last point. My son is 7 years old, he was introduced to the first trilogy on his birthday, and he fell in love, as expected. He's a major fan, knowing all the different ships (even those from the new trilogy, even though he's never seen the movies). He can tell you their speeds, and every single technical detail. He has a Darth Vader costume already. He knows every single planet ever mentionned in Visual Dictionaries. He out-fans me! He's the perfect age to go see the last Starwars at the theater. And I won't be able to take him. I suspect there are a lot of first trilogy fans who now have kids of that age. What a shame that I cannot bring him, and share with
him the very last movie? How can I tell him that he has to stay home with a babysitter while I attend the premiere? I cannot face it. He would be devastated. I could, of course, not tell him, but that goes against our family values. I won't sneak out like a teenager hiding from her parents. I just feel very sad that I've been deprived of the opportunity, the last one!, of sharing a Starwars line up with my kid. He would have enjoyed it so much. It would have created a long lasting family memory but now, it won't happen.

Anyone who will be found boycotting or bitching about Episode III, or any other Episode of the Star Wars saga, will immediately be placed under arrest and will be brought up with the charges of being a complete ASS and a MORON. The maximum penalty will be set if the defendant is found guilty. That is life-long encasement in carbonite. You WILL be left there until your ***** fall off.
