The Zoo Boo
October 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for family friendly fun!
This fun filled safe Halloween event is one of the Zoo's largest special events. The event features creepy candy stations, Zoo animal pumpkin smashes, a children's costume parade, hay rides, famous and local costumed characters, live musical entertainment and other spooktacular fun!
This should be a blast, there will be many children that will be thrilled to death to see folks in Star Wars costumes.
The Ghent Business Association Presents the 8th Annual
Masquerade in Ghent
Get ready to show off your Halloween costume at the 8th Annual Masquerade in Ghent Halloween Block Party and Costume Walk on Friday, October 26th from 6PM - 10PM.
Costume Walk registration will begin at 5:00PM by the Laundromat at the corner of Shirley and Colley Avenue and the Walk will start at 6:30pm. Judges will be to judge costume contest and award prizes in several categories including Best in Show with a $1,000 cash prize. There will be live music by Electric Baby out of Harrisonburg, Virginia and The Rhondells. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will be held on Colley Avenue by the Naro Expanded Cinema. There is ample parking available at surrounding shopping centers.
Carve it out on your calendar and make plans to experience true fear and fun at the 8th Annual Masquerade in Ghent and bring a friend because, "no one likes to scream alone."
Last year we had a blast at the Masquerade, after the street party we went to the new Belmont till like 1 in the morning.
Lets go get our drink on. =)

For Masquerade, i'll probably just meet everyone at Belmont or whatever bar you wind up at later in the night. Not sure if i'll be in costume or not. I don't want to tire myself out that evening b/c I gotta troop next day at the "Bikes for Tykes" GEICO event benefitting CHKD.
As for Sunday, Oct. 28th at Zoo Boo, I can provide a black table fabric, and I'll have a jar ready for CHKD donations.

So for that thing in ghent, I remember someone said something about what time and where to park, but I didnt write it down. Anyone remember?

Since the Virginia Boo Zoo organizers are emphasizing safety at his event, is it okay to bring prop weapons?
I went home for lunch this afternoon and WAVY TV 10 did a plug on this event. The Executive Director of the Zoo said that on Sunday, people will see costumes that you don't see anywhere in Hampton Roads!
Does he mean us?

Just a reminder: The Christmas party is December 9th 5:30pm at Azars in Ghent.
Should be a great time and the food will taste good for sure.
