I will be there. I look forward to meeting some 501st members. My computer does not like the Star Garrison site for some reason and it drives me crazy. I should be there around 7pm.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but...

Does anyone know what the prices of the DVDs will be at different places (Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc.)? All of the ads and everything I've seen online says "Low Price." Well, that's just super, but what exactly is this low price? I want to know where to go.

Thanks!

I've seen as low as $14.99 at Circuit City, I think. I'm sure Wal-Mart would be close to the same. Best Buy has the "tin" set which has a tin case, which is going for a bit more. I'm not sure if this set requires you to buy them all together or not though.

As for meeting up and greenspoint, I'm there. I work close. I'll stop by and say hi. I'll probably get there between 6:30 and 7:00. Will you guys be in full stormtrooper garb as well?

Edit: I saw this post in the Official Thread in CT:

It will be $59.99 at Best Buy starting tomorrow through Saturday the 16th and then go to $89.99 after that. Here is a photo. The release date is tomorrow 9/12.

Yes, we are armoring up for this event, starting at 6:30. We are having a friendly competition with the North Texas squad for funny pictures, so if you have any ideas for good photos, please let us know!

See you folks there tonight!

I hope y'all have fun tonight! If I lived anywhere remotely near Greenspoint, I would stop by.

Yeah, I wish it was on the Southside. Sounds like lots of fun.

I'll be getting that Lego game...the first one was a smash hit here at the house.

I'll be there...gotta line up to shell out my yearly tithing to Lucasfilm anyway so why not do it in the company of heavily armed and armored like-minded folks. This also seems like the most practical and best chance I have to finally meet some folks from this forum since work conflicts and distant locations have kept me from most of our other meet ups.

Look forward to seeing y'all.

The kids there looked like they had fun with it. Great costumes and armor.
TI1420 great to put A face with the name and look forward to working with you on getting me in the 501st. I am looking for my pictures to see if they are good.
That store has all the bad movies I like so I will be going back soon.

Darth Butt, StormMoose, it was great to meet you guys at this event. It was great to see so many people there, all excited to meet some 'real' stormtroopers.

I picked up Lego SW II and played through the first level last night. It is a ton of fun, lives up to and may even surpass the first Lego SW game.

Anyone pick up the DVDs at Best Buy or another store? I was curious about the extras on those.

Hey it was great meeting you as well! grin You guys are pretty impressive, I must say! My pics didn't come out as well as I'd like them too but oh well. You guys are getting compliments in Mod Squad though! grin

Here's what I posted in the official thread on this in CT:

DarthButt posted:
I bought them last night, and I must say that as much as I was expecting these to be horrible, I was quite surprised. I just watch the first half of ANH before I fell asleep, but what I have seen so far, that are pretty damn good. Not enough "dirt" to really speak of, and I only noticed a one or two parts of scenes that are really very minor as far as quality goes. I don't own a HD TV but on my 32" TV they look really great. I'd say they are at least 90% as good the 2004 DVD's, if not more.

Edit: As far as the SE disc, I can't tell any difference between the previous DVD so far. I scanned through ANH and yes, there still is the green saber on the Falcon. Doesn't look like anything at all was changed.

DB, thanks. I was going to come and ask what everyone thought about the quality.

I'm so torn, like I never have been before. Usually, I don't think twice about buying whatever new video/DVD release Lucas has put out. But, I just bought the OT on DVD. To spend another $45 on the same films seems a bit ridiculous. I, too, have wanted the unaltered OT forever, but I can't get over the rumor about the ultimate edition next year. On the other hand, I don't want to not get them and then the unaltered versions not be available again.

[Grumble]

I was actually going to just get one a month. Not that I'm hard up for money or anything, I just didn't plan on getting them all at once. Going to Best Buy changed my mind on that though. But hell, at $14.99 at Circuit City, one a month is worth it, I'd say.

Hmm, too bad, I would have been able to make it since it was at that location. When I heard the 501st was going to be out, I thought it would be farther south. Plus, Butt didn't respond to my inquiry n the O-OT thread wink

So what does everyone think of this release?

About telling Doug and the guys hi?

Not sure if I remember meeting a Doug, if that's what you are referring to, David happy Then again, I didn't read that post until after I got back. That said, I'm really bad with remembering names the first time I meet people.

As far as the release, after watching them all, I'm really satisfied with it. The quality is pretty good IMO. I'm just watching on my 32" tube TV, so it's going to look good for me.
