Looks good! Tell me about your shin gaurds. What are they out of and what are you having to do with them?

They're soccer shin guards. I used two trimmed and matched up for each piece, because they aren't tall enough as they are. Then I marked with a sharpie where the lattice-type work should be cut out. The larger holes will have straps running through them; the smaller ones will be blocked from behind. I came home yesterday to find Darren using the dremel tool on them after I had asked him to help me get my costume finished. :-) Hooray for a costuming buddy! I used hot glue to hold them together and then followed that up with a bit of Gorilla glue. I bought vinyl to cover them, but I'm not sure it'll work or not since the vinyl is kind of thick. If not, I'll have to neatem them up, reinforce them from behind so they don't snap apart, and spray paint them. They have the original foam behind them still, and I may leave that there for cushioning.
Here's what the originals look like:
Mine aren't going to go around the leg as much, but it's a start. It just occurred to me that I could possibly add something to the sides (maybe some more plastic) to extend them. If I did that I definitely would need to cover them to hide the seams.

Oh yeah, and my top is on its way from China. Fingers crossed!!! I also bought these pants (they're not as yellowish as the picture--they're off-white) and last night I split them up the middle and back of the leg and then sewed them together together again. (there's supposed to be seams running front and back of the legs, along with the side seams). Doing that also tightened them up, and now I need to lower the waist, add elastic for the waistband (they had a side zipper, which I removed, and add the decorative stitching along each side of the seams. Woohoo! They look really good so far. I woke Darren up at 11 last night so he could see them.

How'd your costuming go this weekend, Sonya?? From your facebook, I'd guess you were busy!
I completely finished my orange jumpsuit... I guess I can call it a flightsuit now. Had a small problem when I washed it. Some of the iron-on velcro came off. Do you know if I can just re-iron it on or do I need to start all over with a new piece?
The only thing I have left is the flak vest; that should be in the mail to me by the end of the day, and the chestbox; that should also be in the mail to me today. I'll spend next weekend putting that last thing together and I should be good to go.
Oh yea, I still need to find myself a pair of gaunlets. Time to make a trip to the Harley shop!

Good job Kari! I'm not sure about that velcro. You might need to start with a new piece, but I don't know as I haven't used that kind before. You might want to use some glue on it.
Yes, I almost have the shinguards / bootcovers done. I just need to finish making the straps. It's amazing, the vinyl is a perfect match for the boots! I won't have to paint them at all! The shinguards came out great, I'm very pleased with myself, even with all the hot glue burns I got. I bought the cheapie RUbies belt and pouches, but they're hollow and not closed in the back. They're floppy latex so Darren used that foam stuff that expands and hardens to fill them, so I think they'll work out fine.

It's so nice when things like that go right! I'm glad Darren is lending a hand, too. That's got to be helping your stress level a bit!

Drove all way the into town to hit up the Harley store to look for a pair of gauntlets. Forgot that they were closed on Mondays. Just like barber shops!
Oh well, I've got to go to town again tomorrow anyway. I'll try again then.

That's a bummer!
I forgot to upload the pic of the shinguards yesterday, but here's a picture of them! They'll go on top of the boot covers.

Looking good guys!
I've finished my helmet and chestbox/armor now I just have to find a way to attach the hoses to the chestbox cause the holes in the chestbox are to small for the hoses and then just polish everythinf a few times and then I should be done.
Here are a few pics...

Hey Curtis, I got my chestbox today. Without a doubt, I'm gonna to need some help! I'm working on my belt and mini-flares tonight and will take a closer look at the puzzle (chestbox) tomorrow. Possibly get some paint on it. That's all I have left to do to become an x-wing pilot.... well, a little flight training wouldn't hurt either!
Your TIE looks great!!!
Sonya, how are your shin guards doing?

Good, I bought some more velcro yesterday so that I can finish them. I've got the boot covers and straps all sewn, and I painted the soles of my boots last night, so after I get the velcro sewn on, they're done! I'm a bit worried about the fit of the boots, though. They fit VERY snugly across my fat Flintstone feet, and my feet have a tendency to swell when I get hot. I'm really really nervous about not having my top yet. I emailed the seller yesterday to find out if they know the general delivery time of the shipping method they chose. They gave me a tracking number, but stupid Post Office is really bad at keeping things updated. The last (and only) entry is that they left China on the 5th.

YAY!!! Darren called me from home and said the top's been delivered! I asked him to open it and see if it seemed to be a reasonable size and he said it was. BIG sigh of relief!

YEA!!!
Oh, wait a minute. You asked a man if an article of clothing was a reasonable size? Can they give an educated answer to that type of question?
