We made good headway in '06. Here's where we're at!

Long shot of the Cyc wall. If you can't see the curve (that's good!) look to the far right.

Another angle of the cyc wall. Here you can see the corner. This will allow for multi-angle shots and rotations of the green screen. The scissor lift is to hang the lights. Anyone wanna help? wink

Our pride and joy, this is the engine room almost completed. There's going to be a hallway running parallel from that dark portal. We're also going to dress the walls with a slick pattern and run pipes and tubes all over the place. The raised platform in the middle is actually the lid to the hyperdrive unit. It raises out of the ground, revealing the engine pit where people can drop down and do work in the underbelly of the ship. Hoo-ah!

Here's the long hallway, undressed. In the end, the floors will be painted and we'll have light fixtures there. Pipes will run along the roof and floor. It'll look sweet. We can push it up against the greenscreen to allow for digital extensions of the hallway.

Here's Keyan standing in the engine room. Just another shot of the hallway from the other side.

Shalo's rifle and Keyan's blaster pistol

Some gun somebody will use

Aola's headpiece. Yes, she's a Twi'lik happy

Another shot of the headpiece. Our guy did a real good job decorating it. Gotta love the cone ears.

And what Starship would be complete without a GONKYKONG!

Another angle of Gonkykong

I think it's the word "Twi'lik" that trips out the links.

You can see them on the actual page: http://archangel.rooms.cwal.net/Pictures/Warehouse/Progress/

Looks awesome, and I take it this is a Star Wars fan film. At first, I didn't know if it was Star Wars themed or not, but from the pics I'm assuming yes.

How was the head peice made? I have a friend here in Tally that would like to make one but the best idea that we can come up with is tights that are filled with foam and shaped right, then covering them with latex or something. This idea would grant much movment at all.

We made ours out of several pieces, a process that took our artist about a week to do.

The skullcap was shaped and molded out of fiberglass. It goes as far as the first leather strip. That allows for empty space for our actress' hair.

The tendrils themselves are two solid foam blocks that we shaped into the basic curvature of what we needed. Then they were cut into three pieces and covered over in latex. The multiple pieces allow for mobility and the latex adds the skin-like texture as well as keeping it all together.

Then we just laced the thing with leather and decorated it with buttons we picked up from a craft store.

I really like these. Is there any chance of getting a pair made for to buy? If so, how much would they cost? I'm s'ok at crafty things but I don't think that I could pull off a nice head peice like those.

absosweetly! I'll get a quote from the guy who made them. He's pretty reasonable considering the amount of time, effort and cost of materials it took to craft it. I'll let you know how much, and break it down so you know what you're paying for.

In that case, no thanks. That's almost two whole costumes. Thanks for getting back to me happy and I look forward to future progress posts and the final project.

We finally got another camera (conveniently located on my phone) so here's another barrage of pics! These are taken within a span of about a week.

Keyan made some slight modifications to the tubing pattern on the first hallway. He also painted the floors and glued the tiles down so it's pretty much complete.

Here's the second hallway. This one is only a half of a hallway which allows us to bring the camera in tight for side shots, as well as link the hallway to the engine room for side-entrances.

Keyan bringing in the frame boxes for Feris' landspeeder and Ban/Hayde's starfighter cockpit.

Landing gear being framed here

This is the landing gear with stencil patterns for the armored plated which will be attached.

And here's the landing gear WITH the armored plates. They're all carved from foam, of course.

We ran out of space for all the sets, so we erected this large general purpose army tent which now houses several of our construction pieces.

The Renaissance cockpit is framed up, walled up and ready to be foamed with control panels!

The cockpit gets foamed up and prepped to be carved.

Meanwhile, the speeder gets its wheels installed for easy transportation and framing begins on its outer shell!

Not to be left out, the starfighter cockpit is set up for construction.

Masonite walls inserted, foam controls framed out. Minor dressing has begun and we got our starfighter chair! Thanks Wal-Mart!

To give an idea of what the controls of the renaissance will look like with that foam, here's what the starfighter's controls look like.

Artist at work, Zorin carves away at the Renaissance controls.

More when my connection gets better happy
