uuUUUUGGH !! I can't believe my bad luck with timing. Sorry guys, I won't be able to attend. The only date I can make it will be on May 17th. At that late in the planning; I don't see that I can help much anyway. If Swamp will PM me with some ideas for prizes I will go get some of them myself (as long as the prices are not to far out) and bring them to an attending member from the B.R. area or bring them on the May 17th planning day.(Don't use my Fanforce e-mail Swamp. It hasnt worked for some time.) Sorry I can't get more involved in helping. It sounds like a lot of fun. I wont even have a chance to see EpIII till May 22. I REALLY HATE MY WORK SCHEDULE RIGHT NOW !!!

hey swamp, im free the 18th (after 2pm) and 19th (after 4pm) if you want to go hound people down for donations and stuff. also i work 12-8 on the 23rd so i wont be able to attend the meeting. what we could do is everyone that wants to go to the meeting can go and i'll stop over at swamp's house after i get off of work and swamp and i can go over what was mentioned at the meeting. all right with you swamp?

I just got back from work and things look like they are starting to take shape. HAve we nailed down a location yet? So I can start telloing people about it.
Also, another way to advertise is the TV. I think it is channel 10, that has the noon telecast, which allows community events to come on and advertise. As long as we push issue that this will be a family friendly event (instead of a geek friendly one) I don't think they would deny one of us being on the tv.
Since I am always oncall for work, I really can't commit to being on the organization commitee. But I do what I can when I am home.

I went to the Grand Theatre today and they said they will know either Wed. or Thurs. when they will start selling ROTS tickets. I'm not sure if it will be online or at the box office, check back later for more info.

Swamp, sorry I couldn't be there for the meeting on today, My car picked friday night to blow the water pump and I had to spend all day changing it. Did the meeting go on? I'll be checking in for details.

No. No one showed up for the meeting. Plus, I was preoccupied with painting the house and garage. Trying to free up some time for myself to go to Festival International Sunday. Also, Jacqui said if I finished the house she would assist in making my costume. I ordered my lightsaber from eBay. Can't wait for it to come in.
Anyway, I sent a proposal to The Grand 16 in Lafayette to allow us to host campout / lineUp activities. Wicket and I spoke at length on the issue of Fan Day III and decided to kick it back a couple of weeks past the release of Episode III. Looking at May 28th (I work) or June 4th (I am FREE). Thing is this, Fan Day III will take more than 3 or 4 key players to make happen. I am thinking with more time and peaked interest in the movie closer to release, we can muster up more volunteers. Also, we have more time to lay the ground work for such an event.
I would love to see it happen, but I waited too long to start rallying the troops. I think a week or two past the release will still generate a nice enough event, and Wicket pointed out that children will be out of school by the 4th of June. Thus, it will be better for the little ones. Let's keep generating conversation here and see what happens.

Thinking about Fan Day III some more, I decided to announce the need for assistance once more. Also, sticking to the planed agenda in this thread I will propose we meet on the 30th of this month at 1830 hrs. at Bisbano's. Anyone not know where that is, contact me. I will be comming straight from work, so I may be a couple of minutes late, but I more than likely get there as soon as 0630 PM.
Anyone who responeded in this thread, if you want to see Fan Day III happen, PLEASE make an effort to show up. Thanks.

ok, hello there everyone
I know you dont hear form me much, and I rarely get a chance to visit these boards. However I have still been getting the emails and I try to keepo up with the goings on as best I can. This week will be my last week of classes and then GRADUATION!
So after May 14th I will be able to do things like attend meetings and be an active member here! (YAY ME)
As for helping out with Fan Day...I will offer whatever I can, but as stated above, I wont be available until the 16th to do anything useful.
Oh and the best way to catch me is online in the Chilastra galaxy as Cim Taurus, Master Smuggler, Master Pilot

You should know that the weekend of June 4 would be competing with another major event. A fairly sizable group of area anime fans who are also Star Wars fans (myself and Darth Stoney included) will be in Dallas that weekend for A-kon 16.
Just a heads-up, man.

I think the weekend of May 21 would be the best weekend to have this. Personally, I have committed to something else that weekend. Still, more SW fans will be out to the movies that weekend than any other weekend. Have you considered scaling it down a little? I would suggest just having 3-4 contests (costume, trivia, and a couple others) an hour or so before one of the day showtimes, then everyone goes to the movie. Hopefully the theater would allow you to put up some flyers next to the movie posters to help you advertise. Also you could pass out flyers at the line-up opening night. Anyway, just a couple of thoughts.
