For the longest time people have thought that it was eeth koth who died in the battle of geonosis, as that is what POTJ sb claims. Yet it shows a picture of agen kolar. So people assumed that the picture was a mistake in the book. Well it turns out it wasn't a mistake, sorta. The newest issue if insider states that Lucas wanted to complete continuity from his previous movie, so he reused certain costumes on new actors. They were intended to be the same jedi from the first movie. So he put the new actor versions of characters he named Adi Gallia, Eeth Koth, and Depa Billaba into the final battle scenes. Since it was apparently clear to EU writers that these were different actors they then renamed those three characters as Sar Labooda, Agen Kolar, and Stass Allie. In anycase it appears that this difference between Lucas's intention, and the renaming left a few artifacts such as in POTJ sourcebook for instance. So it leaves questions left on what the book said, could it be that someone thought they saw Kolar die but mistook him for Eeth Koth? Which is why the picture shows Kolar instead of Koth(who we haven't seen in any pictures at the battle).

Definitely Eeth. He was cooler, until he died.

Since an author's intentions are left to be modified by in-univers material, I'll assume the POTJ SB is correct in it's identifcation of the character but accompanied by an incorrect photo ala the EGTV&V switching the VSD and ISD pics.

That is, unless a newer source comes out showing that it is indeed incorrect.

Though it appears from the new insider info, that one author must have took the picture based on what was mentioned in the original script when writing the POTJ book(so he would be correct based on what he had to work from), while other authors wrote alternate material in other books.

If I recall correctly POTJ came out before the renaming of Eeth Koth to Agen Kolar occured on the official site. So it may very well be that the earlier authors did the research with what they had and had it right. It was the later sources that caused a contradiction with that book when they decided to change things.

Does anyone know if the novel has any info for that scene?

Eeth is dead, Agen (whom you see onscreen in AOTC) is alive, most likely.

Of course there are other actual errors, not things complicated into being errors. Such as certain tid bits in the history of ruusan, where a race was created out of nothing by combining the sullust collonists history with that of the history of the floaters, and then adding new stuff and putting it back at a time before the battle of ruusan. It says there are no other creatures of any importance on the planet.

So what was written about was a human race with force powers that made the prophecy of ruusan, when we know that it was really the floaters that made that prophecy.

So who ever wrote that was misinformed as well, as could the info in other parts of the book.

Though also interesting to note is POTJ sourcebook also has a picture of Sar Labooda at the battle of geonosis, instead of the picture of Depa Billaba for Billaba's entry, so apparently that again shows that the POTJ sourcebook was most likely written when other sources listed those actors as being Adi Gallia, Eeth Koth, and Depa Billaba, and things must have been changed later.

I guess we'll have to wait until Episode III, unless someone asks the Jedi Council on the official site.

Related info can be found in battle of geonosis survival thread, I'll quote put the relevant quotes here:

JKBurtola:

Oh btw I'm just reading the "Battle of Geonosis" pages[inside the worlds of AOTC and it confirms that the ship, seen being blown up in front of Mace & Yoda, did carry Jedi.

The Fatalities include: Sora Bulq (mostly likely severely injured but was healed enough when we see him in the comics), Tarados Gon and Eeth Koth (yes according tot his he managed to escape the arena).

The2ndQuest:

Thanks JKB!

>>The Fatalities include: Sora Bulq (mostly likely severely injured but was healed enough when we see him in the comics)<<

May I request a quote to see the context it's in? A fix for this might be needed.

>>Tarados Gon and Eeth Koth (yes according tot his he managed to escape the arena).<<

But it confirms his death outside the arena?

>>WHAT? They died? How?<<

We don't know yet- their deaths were first mentioned in their entries for the Power of the Jedi Sourcebook, with only a passing mention. Now, it seems this new book confirms Eeth's death.

Valiento:

POTJ sourcebook was sort of from a jedi's perspective, it's possible that they got some info wrong, like they did with certain facts about native ruusanians, Floaters, "aren't any other species of any concern", my foot...

JKBurtola

Ok this is the official quote from the book:

Mace, Yoda, Ki-Adi-Mundi & Kit Fisto witness a direct hit on one of the six gunships evacuating Jedi from the arena: fatalies include Jedi Sora Bulq and Tarados Gon, as well as High Council member Eeth Koth.

Valiento:
One should watch the movie closely and see where Agen Kolar went. If he got into that one, then it could be further mixup based on authors using older material to do research, and other later authors changing the name of the character.

Anywho, POTJ never said the one that died, died in the arena, it just said he died fighting successionist forces. That would count the ships that they got into were also fighting the successionist forces during the battle of geonosis. Until the battle was completely over, one would continue to be fighting in the battle, from command ships, and any other positions.

JKBurtola:
well its clear to me from the film that Agen Kolar is the only Zabrak Jedi I see entering the gunship.
I'm sure Eeth would have been in the final circle if he had entered a gunship but he wasn't as far as i can tell.

I incline to agree with you Valiento it was most probably a mix up with the material the writer was using.

Valiento:
For further discussion on this matter check this thread out;

Where I discuss how insider states that agen kolar is called eeth koth in earlier material, but he was renamed later by other authors because he was a different actor. But since that other material still exists to be refrenced it may have caused mixups, and could cause later mixups as well. Note that potj sourcebook came out before the renaming by other authors occured.

I think this would be an interesting question for Pablo Hidalgo to answer, Valiento! I hope someone can field it to Pabawan in one way or another either through the SW INSIDER or TOS.

I like this question!

Agen Kolar appears in JEDI-Shaak Ti and in Star Wars Republic 54. LFL was consulted on his use. They say he's alive.

They also told us that Eeth Koth is dead--killed on Geonosis.

Eeth Koth appears in the AOTC adaptation in the arena. I haven't seen him in the film, but there was a padawan fighting in the arena (in the film) who was pointed out as possibly being Eeth's padawan. Possible that he died there too. (?) Don't know why Eeth wasn't in the film and Agen was, but there was reference that was definitely Eeth for the adaptation so I don't think they are supposed to be the same guy.

As far a Sora Bulq is concerned--in JEDI--Mace Windu it was stated that Sora vanished after Geonosis. Was he presumed dead or MIA? Considering his new alliances he is not to be trusted anyway. Again, LFL was consulted as to his use.

Eeth Koth was cool! After seeing these next two issues you might think the same about Agen Kolar. He was a really cool character to depict in the comics. I hope we get to see him again!

So it appears that some people at LFL believe one thing, while others at LFL believe another, hmm...

All I can see now is everything is just confused.
