With respect and deference to the creators and contributors of The Clone Wars Dossier and any other topics discussing Durge, I thought it would be nice to collect any and all information, speculation, and interpretation regarding this new face... err, helmet. wink Below are some of blurbs I've collected giving some background information on Durge. It appears he may remain an enigma, something of a Pandora's box of connections to various story lines.

TOS - "Introducing Durge"
"Spotlight: Durge
A long-lived bounty hunter who has replaced Jango Fett as Count Dooku's right-hand man, Durge has long held a grudge against the Mandalorians. Emerging from hibernation after the Battle of Geonosis, the bounty hunter learned that the Mandalorians were all but extinct. Their legacy continued, however, in the form of the Republic's clone troopers, forged from Jango Fett's genetic material. Durge then joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems to enact his revenge upon Jango's clones, and fights alongside Asajj Ventress in the Clone Wars."
TOS - "Three-Minute Epics: A Look at Star Wars: Clone Wars" (page 2)
"Also in the series is a new fearsome bounty hunter named Durge. 'Durge has these special powers. If you cut him down, he can reconnect himself. We have him face off with Obi-Wan. He rides a speeder bike with a lance, so we're playing around with ideas like jousting with other Jedi Knights on speeder bikes,' laughs Tartakovsky."
Hasbro.com - "Sneak Peek: Clone Wars Anakin & Durge"
"So you may be wondering, who is Durge? Durge is a 2,000-year-old bounty hunter who replaces Jango Fett as Count Dooku's right-hand man. A century before the Clone Wars, Durge was captured and tortured by Mandalorian warriors while trying to collect a bounty on their leader. Durge escaped and went into hibernation to recuperate. Shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, Durge awakened seeking revenge only to find that the Mandalorians were all but extinct. Upon learning that the Republic's Clone Troopers were created from Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, Durge joined the Confederacy to enact his revenge upon Jango's clones."
Star Wars Insider #67, page 20
"After the Battle of Geonosis, Count Dooku found a suitable replacement for the deceased Jango Fett in the 2,000-year old bounty hunter Durge. In ancient times, Durge fought alongside the Sith against the Jedi, until the Sith were driven into extinction a millennia before the Battle of Naboo. In the years that followed, Durge established himself as one of the galaxy's greatest bounty hunters until he was defeated by the Mandalorians while attempting to collect a bounty on their leader. Although he was held captive and tortured by the commandos, he escaped and spent a century in hibernation to recover from the ordeal. When he awoke shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, he discovered the Mandalorians had been wiped out almost entirely. Upon learning of Jango Fett's involvement with the creation of the Republic's clone army, Durge joined forces with the Separatists to exact his revenge on the last remnants of the Mandalorians."
So, Durge was around well before the Jedi vs. Sith/Dark Forces - Jedi Knight conflict between the Jedi and Sith that ended at Ruusan. After Ruusan, he works the trade for nine centuries (give or take a decade or two) eventually trying to collect the bounty on the leader of the Mandalorians circa 122 years before the Battle of Yavin. Durge gets out by the skin of his... whatever and has to take a nap to refresh. He wakes up after Geonosis and starts his search for the Mandalorians only to find out Jango was the last (as far as the few in the know actually knew). Finally, he falls in cahoots with Dooku and the Confederacy. Busy fella'... when he's not sleeping, that is.

Not only can he live thousands of years, but he also can hibernate (perhaps it was just an enduced healing stasis) and regenerate? He's run afoul of the Mandalorians and the Jedi, lived to brag about it, and he's been an ally to the Sith more than once. There's a lot more to this dude than some corny smack talk and fancy armor!

Speaking of the armor... wonder what's with the bantha skull logo we later see on Jaster Mereel's/Boba Fett's Mandalorian armor?

Post away! Share your thoughts, speculation, information, and interpretations from the few items Durge has shown up in to date.

$50 says we see a cameo from lil' Boba in the future, since he's the last true Mandalorian (aside from Fenn Shysa & co, that is)

Well, that insignia on his chest isnt exactly a Mandalorian thing, its something different. In ish 51, Curge called himself "a walking bundle of nerves" or something like that. He could hear Obi's heart beat several meters behind him. He got shot through the head without any loss in function. He looks like Cobra Commander. Hes one tough bastard.

Durge could play nets for any NHL franchise and wouldn't even need shin pads.

Durge is a little odd to me. His look, and his demeanor seem far outside the SW Universe. He survives lightsabre slashes and lives for thousands of years? He seems to be more of a Marvel Comics villain than a rough and tumble bounty hunter. I just can't fit him into my view of SW at all.

And yessssss he does look like Cobra Commander.

As of the latest issue of Republic it's established that Durge does not have a central nervous system. Thus, he's not inconvenienced when Master Zangie---- I mean, Master Glaive's Padawan severs his spine with her lightsaber.

Yeah... odd. That goes alond with his "walking bundle of nerves" (or whatever) comment, I guess. What the heck is this guy? The action figure and the cover for the most recent Republic (I forget the ish #) seem to show skin under the armor on his arms. ?:|

He's probably an uber cyborg. His organic parts are immune to decay probably from drugs and nutrient injections (or something similar), and his mech half doesn't wear out. So, he's basically immortal. If being a walking tank if your idea of a good time, it's not a bad way to go. wink

2000 years old?? Man, and I was still coming to terms with him being over 100. What the hell could he be under there? I don't think we've seen any species that lives quite that long. Until now I'd thought maybe he was a very slim hutt. happy

Arden Lyn is older, at around 24,000 years, but of course she was buried back then, and then later revived during the empire times by a mystical object.

Wasn't there a type of assassin in YJK (Bartok maybe it was?) who stormed the one palace, and they didn't have a central nervous system, so they could have heads lobbed off, etc and still keep coming? Or was that because of a hive-mind thing, I forget...

My feeling is he's something along those lines, in a cyberneticly enhanced body.

Yeah, except the Bartoks were insectoid. So Durge has no spine, then.

Or as I said, he's a cyborg, so naturally impalment wouldn't hurt him. Vader stabs himself through the chest to kill Maul in the SW Tales comic. No reason to assume Durge is any different.
