We're falling behind on our Durge injuries people! Snap to! grin

He burns both his hands off to kill a Jedi Master in 53, DAMN that's got to hurt!

And interesting note though, he does scream at first when his hands go into the lava, so he does feel pain, it just his wounds don't kill him and he can replace them.

Durge reminds me of Gorm the Dissolver. Both are practically indestructible, both fight jedi and live to tell about it, both are huge, both are cyborg-like, etc...

maybe Durge's scream isn't one of pain... but of rage like a warcry... like "Darnit... gonna need to get some new hands..."

Thief - Durge seems really un-Star Warsy to me as well. More like a villain you would see in Power Rangers or some Saturday morning anime cartoon with his pseudo-samurai look (same with the ARC troopers).

But even I do (and I will) accept an invincible, two thousand year old cyborg I still wonder who made him in the first place and why and where they got the technology from and why and where was he sleeping and,,, just WHY?

With the new info on TOS and Cartoon Network.com, I thought I'd dredge this Durge dirge from the depths... wink

Durge's species has been revealed: he's a Gen'Dai (let the pronunciation debate begin wink ).

Here's a blurb on the Gen'Dai:
"The peculiar nervous and circulatory systems of the Gen'Dai makes them extremely resistant to physical injury. The Gen'Dai physiology boasts millions of nerve clusters throughout the body, and a vascular system that distributes blood without the need of a central heart. Lacking the vulnerable vital organs of most humanoids, a Gen'Dai could sustain multiple lacerations and even, it is rumored, complete dismemberment and yet still survive. In addition to these extremes of endurance, the distributed neural network gives the Gen'Dai phenomenal reflexes. Should a Gen'Dai sustain too many injuries, they are capable of entering into extended periods of hibernation, during which they can heal wounds, recover from disease, and slow the aging process."
A bit more of his history with the Mandalorians is expanded upon:
"Leave it to the Mandalorians to devise a means of restraining a Gen'Dai. They turned Durge's longevity against him, finding ways of inflicting pain throughout his scattered nerves. He was a victim of unspeakable torture, unable to die."
Sounds like fun!

with his pseudo-samurai look

I've read that Vader's appearance was based on the look of the samurai. And he does remind me of them. The helmet and mask are very samurai like.

i'm with you here. Durge sounds just awful, like a fanfic villain written by a 13-year old.

Okay, okay! We've got some more Durge stuff to collect and comment upon. I've taken some screenies from Chapter 8 of the Clone Wars cartoon series on Cartoon Network. I figure since they show them for free to us luck folks here in the states, I can share stills with the whole world (if you don't like it LFL/Cartoon Network, just say something... I didn't think so! wink ).

First off, we have our subject surviving a nice flame bath:

Next, Druge uses General Kenobi's speeder bike as a club:

Then he's run through by Kenobi's blade:

Of course, he's just fine with that. So, with the 'saber lodged in his chest, Durge reveals a few new toys:

A flechett launcher in his wrist:

A flamethrower in the other wrist:

I didn't take a picture of it ('cause there really wasn't a good one), but he also swings a spikey cylinder thingy at the end of a chain.

Also built in are some interesting energy shields:

This dude obviously has dealt with Jedi before if he has these!

And now on the alien physiology of the Gen'Dai:

Kenobi cuts him up, and his body "ties" itself back together... this is teh cool! cool

And Earthworm Jim rocks! mischief

Naw... when I saw a bunch of tentacles shoot out at the Clone Troopers in the scene from the next episode, I thought to myself, "Carpenter's 'The Thing'!". My friends tended to agree. wink

Well technically Boba or Jango aren't true Mandalorian. Jango had some skill of the Mandalorians, and Boba mostly learned his stuff from his father or by himself.

and I beg to debate that the true Mandalorians are not really dead. Just silent. In open Seasons the people of Concord dawn were a little surprised to see Mandalorians walking around, and Jasters group might have been only a spec of the true army of the Mandalorians. One reason might be that since they haven't emerged from their system in so long, people think they're all gone. As does Durge.

I think it would be cool if the race of warriors who took Durge down once, does it again.
