My question is this: What the hell is Durge? I've read many a weird thing in the Star Wars universe but Duge takes the cake. Maybe it's because of the animation and the "artistic license," but Durge just comes off as a silly character. He had so much potential when I first read about him in Star Wars: Republic.

Durge is part Shredder, part Cobra Commander.

He's a Gen Dai. I think he's a pretty cool looking alien. I like the visuals, i don't much care for the fact that he's indestructable.

Cool he's a Gen Dai. Where did you find this info at? Is that the name of the planet also? Where in the universe would that planet be located? Thanks for the help. I still think he is kind of lame? He really comes off as Super-Shredder from "Secret of the Ooze." He also reminds me of Jason, being that he is all wormy like everyone's favorite camp counselor killer.

Durge

There that'll take you to his OS entry on the official site.

I don't think he';s as bad as super shredder. He reminds me more of some lovecraftian demon. The shadowy room in which he faught Obi Wan. Nice touches.he was more like a monster from some horror film and I thought it worked well.

So... is he dead? Are there any sources with Durge that take place after Chapter 9 of the cartoon series?

Also, I wish Durge had had dialogue in the cartoon. He was really talkative in the comics, and it made him a lot more menacing with him talking a lot of smack and then backing ALL of it up. cool

I wonder... He regenerates so quickly... What the hell did the Mandalorians do to him that it took 100 years for him to heal? Did they blow him into a million pieces and scattered them across the galaxy or what? tongue

The commentator guy said he was a changeling. Is this true or is he making stuff up again?

Val, what issue is that Republic comic?

I find that the "commentator guy" speaks in generalizations and incomplete understandings because the Cartoon Network wants to market to more than just Star Wars fans who know everything we know.

Here's an update from Chapter 9:

Durge has apparently reconnected himself from his encounter with Kenobi in Chapter 8. Here we see our subject fly into the "IG" control bunker, taking blaster shots that kind of deflect off of his armor. Interesting...

His rocket pack is blown up...

He's engulfed in even more blaster fire and takes a shoulder-launched rocket head-on...

From the smoking crater, Durge employs more of his amazing alien physiology.

Here's a close-up of his "arm":

And a more full view of his armorless body:

Durge uses the elasticity he showed in striking out of the smoke at the clone troopers (above) to try to smash Kenobi...

But the Jedi severs the "limb"(?).

So here we see Durge all mad and puffed up (clearly Gen'Dai are capable of changing shape).

The clone troopers fire zip lines into Durge and close on him, firing all the way.

Again, the blaster bolts seem to be deflected by his "skin"(?).
Placing more ambiguity on his "natural" form, Durge closes on Kenobi, running on all fours.

The Gen'Dai starts to engulf(ingest?) the Jedi:

"Get in my belly!" wink
The (red) Arc Trooper "commander" fires a long-range tazer-like device and shocks Durge.

Durge seems to send the electricity back at the wrist-mounted device, disabling it.
Apparently his Jedi dinner has given Durge some indigestion:

BOOM!

shock Yuck...
And in the end, we see the "puddle" that Durge is reduced to sort of receeding to the the sides of the frame...

So... is he dead... I doubt it.

The more I see of him in the cartoon, the more he reminds me of the creature from Carpenter's 'The Thing', to a certain extent.

As a sidenote, Genndy's commentary says that Durge was suppsoed to ripple and pulsate like he does at the end just before he explodes, but it was too difficult to animate.
