	Are you sure, Esplin? 	I think they may have been mistaken. There was Imperial Sentinels on Byss ( the tall 7-foot guys with robes ), but there was also Soveriegn Protectors that look different, with more metallic and curved helmets. There some good info on each of these in the Dark Empire Sourcebook by Michael Allen Horne. 	Yeah. Jax is a Sovereign Protector. That's why he has different armor from the other Guardsmen. Sentinels were the big guys on Byss. 	Now that I think about it, wasn't this Sovereign Protector thing for Jax first mentioned in the Crimson Empire Guidebook, or was it the New Essential Guide to Characters? 	Gamer 5 specifically says that Sarcev Quest advocated having Carnor Jax being promoted to the rank of Sovereign Protector,probably because he was under Lumiya's orders and she was planning on destroying his clones along with quest.

	From a canonical standpoint, Sovreign Protectors are the best of the best of the best, selected from the Crimson Guard, stationed on Byss to guard the Emperor. 	The Sovereign Protectors was the ultimate Royal Guardsmen. While stormtroopers would strive to become the best and maybe recieve a chance to become a Royal Guardsman, the Royal Guards would strive to become Imperial Sovereign Protectors. Unlike most stormtroopers and Royal Guardsmen, Sovereign Protectors recieve training in the ways of the dark side. It's elementary training, though the best Sovereign Protectors may be selected to become Dark Jedi. In the seen in Dark Empire where Luke is being brought intoPalpatine's castle on Byss, you see an Imperial Sentinel and in the background is a Soveriegn Protector. 	I only have DE Issue #5, but if you look at the scene where Palpatine is talking to Leia about the holocron, you'll see a Sovereign Protector somewhere in the beginning of that scene.
