Dec 24, 2003; "...("There is no canon") and doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of our VIPs."
-Pablo Hidalgo, LFL author, and VIP.

I don't think I could have put it better myself. By the way, Pabawan is not just any one guy. If some people think of me as the Go-To Guy, then think of Pabawan as the Go-To Guy's Go-To Guy.
-Leland Chee, Head Continuity Editor, and VIP.

Valiento dont over react, thats not what Leeland Chee said. Chee just agreed with the sentiment of what Pablo was saying not his "There is no Canon" statement.

Maybe you should read Pablo's full post and see what he was replying to get the full picture.

Oh lookie here, this is Pabs full reply and what Leland Chee was really reacting to:

You are just asking for continuity to further degrade, and events of stories to further not mean anything... It's a terrible downword slope to be asking for...

It doesn't show respect to the authors that came up with stories, or the fans who like the stories and want them to be included in a real continuity the way they were told (with occasional explanations whenever something doesn't quite match up).

But the flipside isn't very realistic. I mean, some fans can be stubbornly rock-solid in their definitions of canon and what actually happened in the universe, but if none of the stories are actually crafted that way, said fans are bound to end up pulling their hair out trying to figure out what really happened.

Not being a part of LucasBooks, but being witness to the process, I think an approach that favors flexibility -- one that acknowledges that the universe is a living, fictional document -- is the most efficient, even though it keeps the technical-commentary-minded community up at nights.

Even the films, the supposed bedrock of all continuity, are malleable and ever-changing. I don't think it's realistic to expect publishing to adopt a philosophy that runs counter to this, because (I think) that's just asking to be trampled.

But that's just one guy's opinion ("There is no canon") and doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of our VIPs.

DarthTerrious, dont over react, as I am not the one overeacting, wink ...

If I was the one reacting I would have put an, " plain ", or more in my posts.

I'm actually quite neutral about this, really, though, happy , which is why I just put emoticons of humorous questioned surprise. So don't take this thread so seriously, please.

However if you want Leland Chee's whole post it was this;

I don't think it's realistic to expect [Licensing] to adopt a philosophy that runs counter to this, because (I think) that's just asking to be trampled.

But that's just one guy's opinion ("There is no canon") and doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of our VIPs.

I don't think I could have put it better myself. By the way, Pabawan is not just any one guy. If some people think of me as the Go-To Guy, then think of Pabawan as the Go-To Guy's Go-To Guy.

No more, no Less, happy . Not much different than I posted, happy .

To be honest I find it, amusing, laugh .

"There is no Spoon", grin ...

"There is no canon"?

Uh, doesn't that mean nothing, in his opinion, is canon? Why the fuss?

Canon, if defined as an inflexible law, is not the best way to deal with SW. Canon, if instead defined as a flexible law, works more to the advantage of most involved. Laws can be changed to better handle the current situation. Force Lighting is of the Dark Side. That is canon, but that can change. Han Solo shot first. That was “absolute” canon, but it changed. I think that is the sort of flexibility he’s talking about.

However, though canon may be a flexible law, it is still a law, and must be recognized and acknowledged as such.

Why would one mourn her if she is still alive?

As for this, this is a rather interesting development, even though it means nothing. If this was true and even if it was being contemplated, that would not change anything as far as I'm concererned.

Solo shot first, "SE" be damned- it's poorly tampered with footage- historical revisionism, if you will.

I like possibilites, therefore, alternate stories that take the characters in a different direction. Shallow/one-dimensional = canon

Solo shot first...

Why are people so hung up on things, that in the great scheme of Star Wars mean absolutely nothing?

It means a lot. It's the difference between incompetence and life experience.
