Why hasn't there been a PREQUEL Wedge?
Wedge Antilles, a very, very minor character in the actual original trilogy of Star Wars films, developed into a rich and well developed character, embraced by millions of Star Wars fans worldwide.
My question to all Star Wars literature fans: "Why hasn't there been a PREQUEL Wedge?".
Many pilots from the Battle of Naboo could have been developed into legendary characters... but they have not.
WHY???!!!

Ric Olie is the prequel Wedge. But not many people like Ric Olie. That means that Ric Olie hasn't appeared as often as Wedge. So no one knows that he's supposed to be the prequel Wedge. But he's a pilot too. And a good guy.

Maybe because the OT characters are much more interesting?...

There are other pilots that are worthy for great tales apart from Ric Olie.
In the Battle for Naboo, the interesting pilots were the "White Male", "White Female" and "Black Male"... all to my knowledge, are unnamed.

Quinlan Vos. Had an even smaller part in the film than Wedge, and is just as cool.
They tried to do the whole expand-a-cameo thing with Aurra Sing, too, but I don't think she ever really caught on. But they were stuck with her, anyway.

Bravo Five (Celia Imrie) got herself a short story on sw.com - she's supposed to be the Prequel Wedge, IMHO... but the Prequels are a far more cynical look at the GFFA, so obviously, things are muddier and more muddled...

Well, why not have a prequel era wedge story, starring wedge antilles himself? Or would the fact that he's younger than Luke put a damper on that?

RE: Why hasn't there been a PREQUEL Wedge?
i think most of the Naboo pilots have been named, eventually...
Bravo Leader - Ric Olie.
Bravo 2 - "white male" =
Officer Porro Dolphe
Bravo 3 - "Black male" =
Lt Arven Wendik
Bravo 4 - "White guy with goatee" =
Lt Rya Kirsch
Bravo 5 - "white female" =
Officer Ellberger
Bravo fighter, unknown designation - "likes to spin a lot" =
???
There's also this guy in pilot garb, who might not have actually flown...

We've had "Prequel Wedges" in the form of Aalya Secura and Quilan Vos actually. Alpha and the Clone Troopers (well you've seen one Jango you've seen them all) too.
Let alone of course Jango himself and his adventures
But for Pilots, mostly its because the Jedi are pilots

Just for the record: ??? is Anakin Skywalker, or is there another pilot during the battle of Naboo with these attributes?

the Wedge Antilles of the prequels is in fact no one other then ....
Sio Bibble
, he had a minor role in ep1 and ep2, and survived it, and will return in ep3, and very likely survive it

If you ask me Wedge is over-rated.
I liked him in the films.
And he is good in EU.
But I don't think we need a Wedge like character in the prequels.
