IIRC, Vader had a few to order around in "The Emperor's Trophey", a short story from the Star Wars Galaxy magazine.

I just listened to the Podcast and now I can't wait for part 2. Tom's origin story was cool. Can't wait for more webstrips.

Some SW art news:
JOE CORRONEY: Right now, I'm planning on new, limited edition artwork for Celebration IV, the official Star Wars convention, next May in Los Angeles. The artwork features all of the major characters of Episode IV: A New Hope and commemorates the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. I have some potential projects coming up for Star Wars Insider hopefully in the near future and I'll also be illustrating a new ongoing project for Lucasfilm and the official website, Star Wars.com, in early 2007.

So... Rookies, Part III? mischief batting

I think Joe mentioned doing something with Pablo, too, on the DH boards.

Hmm . . . interesting . . . # 53 got me thinking, I wonder if Vader still really believes that the Jedi were trying to murder Palps and take over the Republic. And I wonder if he ever truly believed it. It seems awfully naive if he still truly thinks this at this point, so I'm assuming he's saying this for Drake's benefit. Of course, perhaps in his undying need to be right Vader has simply denied himself the truth. It's psychologically quite complex.

Edit: By the way, something tells me Vader has an urge to tell Drake who he is. After all, Anakin was Drake's (and probably the majority of Padawans') great hero right? The irony would be delicious . . . .

I think he will, in light of telling Shryne.

Oh, and nice AOTC mirroring by Ens (and Hodges).

Think about it this way, he has only been in the suit at this point a few months. He's still in the mindset that the Jedi betrayed the Chancellor.

Below are my thoughts on the matter:

Fast forward to ANH and before he realized his son existed, his faith in the Emperor was still as strong and probably never wavered... until of course a young man named Skywalker destroys the Death Star. I think THAT is the moment when things start to become clearer on the subject for Vader.

IMHO

Interesting. The problem that I have with that though is that it's ridiculously naive on Vader's part. I mean doesn't Vader realize that Palps manipulated the whole thing-Clone Wars, everything, from the beginning? I mean how could he not considering Dooku was his apprentice? I think by this point Vader has already given up, has given himself over to his evil tendencies. He already messed up and feels it is too late for him to redeem himself so he simply gives himself over to it. The idea that he believes that the Jedi were really so duplicitous gives him way too much credit and absolves him of responsibility for way too many of his evil deeds (though certainly not all of them, of course).

Edit: Also, I've never felt that the change that happens in Vader when Luke appears is one of perspective. His opinion on the Emperor does not change. At first he merely sees the potential to finally live out his Sith destiny and murder Palps, becoming the Sith Lord. Then, the tug he feels toward Luke, later, is an emotional one, after they finally meet in TESB, though he himself does not admit it. His opinion does not change, his heart does. Reclaiming Luke as his son is a way for him to reclaim his lost past which he himself destroyed and which he thought was impossible to restore. Luke is his link to his lost feelings; his forgotten love for Padme, for Obi-Wan, for his mother.

By the time this scene plays out, you'll see that Vader has added his own elements into the "great Palpatine lie" for Drake's sake.

It is, however, fully up to the reader to decide if Vader believes what he is saying.

I have my own thoughts on the matter... but they are not necessarily canon.

IMHO, this is probably the best reason to even get Hyperspace anymore, so kudos to all involved.
