Question: On there it says TALES OF THE JEDI: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC. But in the comics section of TF.N, it lists no such thing. It does, however, list a series simply called TALES OF THE JEDI, with no subtitle, which is not listed here. Are these the same thing?

Starcrash is legit? Yoshi?

Including authors clutters the lines more, and the hilights can be a bit confusing. I don't know how many colours the board offers, but I'd colour the text rather than hilight, easier to read.. Minor un/importance like Darkness Shared, Starcrash, Devaronian Version, etc can be just plain text.

Good effort though. 2500 XP awarded.

Interesting colour scheme, i wonder what possible reason could have lead you to lump the mostly poor quality TV series and TV movies together and put them in nearly illegible text ?

The idea being, since they were a visual medium like video games, they'd share the color of the video games, with the highlight of the films.

The rest of the color scheme is meant to emulate Wild Karrde's Upcoming Release Dtaes coloring method, with some slighta djustments made (ie: i oiginally used the orange w/red highlight for short stories, as theres no equivilent on WK's work but that made the short stories stand out more than the novels which didn't seem right to me, so i switched them and gave the comics a highlights to better distinguish them as well, as the comcis and novels form the core of the EU)

though your note at the bottom probably explains it, but where is 'Murder at Slushtime' by Barbara Hambly (probably mucked up the name) ? Is that another subconcious action on your part?

Nope, just some of the Hyperspace Fiction stories I haven't yet added.

Also conspicuously missing is Rebel Assault, seeing as you included Rebel Assault II (in blue text none the less).

Good catch- I'll add that.

One thing though - I thought the first Jedi Apprentice special edition came in the middle of the series as it references the female Jedi's (Tahl??) death as happening fairly recently.

I haven't read JA yet, but as I understand it, there are two time periods in the SE books- an Obi/Anakin section and an Obi/Qui-Gons ection- so you have the placement of the Obi/Anakin sections on the timeline (much like with LOTJ and SOTJ, the most recent timeline event is where the lsiting goes by).

On there it says TALES OF THE JEDI: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC. But in the comics section of TF.N, it lists no such thing. It does, however, list a series simply called TALES OF THE JEDI, with no subtitle, which is not listed here. Are these the same thing?

Yes, originally there was just "Tales of the Jedi" before DLOTS and the rest of the series was commissioned. The original TPB was just titled TOTJ: the Collection, but subsequent printings had the KOTOR subtitle added to distinguish it amongst it's spin-offs and followups.

Including authors clutters the lines more, and the hilights can be a bit confusing.

I agree that some author inclusions (such as the m,ulti-author/artist comic TPB's) can be a little muddy when used back to back (I'll work on maybe adding the occasional underline to help break them up), but I think it's useful for reference- ie: someone might be inclined to pick up the one Marvel TPB (or at least browse it) that includes Jan's first SW issue, to compare it to her modern work.

Question: You put Clone Wars Vol. 2 a couple of years after Vol. 1. Are we supposed to believe that Ki-Adi Mundi was fighting General Grevious for 2 years, or do you mean with the exeption of Chapter 21?

It's a rough approximation- Volume 1 all happens at 4 months after Geonosis (except for Chapters 6 & 7, which are set a few months earlier), while Volume 2 primarily happens just before Episode 3 (though the first 2 or 3 chapters occur during the timespan between that and Volume 1).

Basicly though, sicne you can't physically split up chapters from a DVD, this is roughly where they would land on a "SW shelf" ::)

Also, if Vol. 2 occurs right before Ep. 3, then how can LOE take place after it?

Also, if Vol. 2 occurs right before Ep. 3, then how can LOE take place after it?

They overlap, but since CW Volume 2 does have content that occurs earlier in the timeline than the first events of LOE, I placed it first.

Ditto for Reversal of Fortune- it starts just prior to ROTS also, but LOE has events set prior to the start of ROF, so I list LOE first, then ROF.

If you're looking for more specific breakdowns for the Clone Wars era, I direct you to The Ultimate AOTC & the Clone Wars Timeline, where the relationship between these three overlapping sources is gone into more detail.

This thread's purpose is to provide a general timeline thread for new and moderate readers.

Maybe you should make it a sticky thread, 2ndQuest. I mean, you yourself have said the purpose is to provide a general timeline of the EU for new and moderate readers, yet if it's not a sticky and it's not on the first page, then what are the odds that those readers are going to find and read it? I will often go back a few pages into the lit forum file cabinet, but I rarely go back further than about the first five pages or so unless there is absolutely a thread I'm trying to find. And then I can just use the search feature. New and moderate readers would probably do the same thing, go back a few pages from page one to see what's there. And if they don't find it, they may not even do a search to find out about a timeline, they may just open a thread to ask. Even those of us who have been around here for a while seem more likely to just ask a question rahter than hit the search button to see if a thread on what we're looking for already exsists if we don't find it within the first few pages.

T2Q,

If you're going to list the eBooks and short stories, you should probably list where the story was printed (and reprinted) in paranthesis.

For example things like:
(SWAJ #xx, reprinted in Tales of the Empire)
(eBook, reprinted in ??? PB version)
(SW Galaxy #xx, reprinted online at Hyperspace)
etc.
etc.

We should all be able to help out with that list.

Knight- I understand what you're saying, but I think this is more along the lines of the TPB resource threads & other timelines in that we can redirect the posts we get to them- it's not a sontantly needed resource like what we have stickied now, and if we start stickying everything, it loses the effectiveness of a sticky.

Mainly, with this thread, I wanted something on-board that we could update that was fairly straight-forward, as opposed to the TF.N Timeline.

Besides- we just got the header link I asked for, woohoo- happy middle ground ::)

Kevin- good idea

Are any of the short stories really important to understand details later on? I read Darknell, and it was pretty redundant (another set of plans? Gimmie a break). I also read most of Tales on the NR/Empire, and I didn't see anything there that seemed really important.

While I understand the point about grouping certain media in certain colours, the highlighting scheme is absolutely eye-knackering!

Couldn't we just have seperate colours for each media? The best ones to read are the young reader books, because they aren't highlighted at all! It would just make it a little clearer without having to strain my eyes.
