I want to plan out my next few EU novels. What I've read so far: the Thrawn Trilogy, the first 4 X-Wing Rogue Squadron novels, I, Jedi, and Jedi Search. I have the other two-thirds of the Jedi Academy trilogy, so that's next.

After that, I am thinking maybe Shadows of the Empire or The Truce at Bakura or maybe something Clone Wars era/pre-ANH. Then there's New Jedi Order. I'm a little intimidated by 25 novels, but maybe I'll just read a few at a time (I can get the first three as a box set).

Any suggestions ???

So, since April of last year, I finished the Jedi Academy trilogy, Shadows of the Empire (novel and comic book series), and Cloak of Deception.

Any suggestions for what to read next ? I am thinking of reading the Darth Maul book and the Phantom menace novelization next, then maybe the ROTS "trilogy" Dark Labyrinth, ROTS, The Rise of Darth Vader.

Any opinions on the Bounty Hunter trilogy by Jeter ?

Labyrinth is an excellent book, the ROTS novel is a awesome read also, but The Rise of Darth Vader is slightly weaker. While a perfectly readable book, it's a little dissapointing/frustrating as it has a rather messed up ending. But don't let that stop you from reading it, it's still a fun read.

So I've been fairly behind in LotF reading. Bloodlines left me feeling "blah", so I just ended up losing interest. However, over the holiday I was able to find a great deal on all the LotF books, bar Sacrifice since it's still only in HB. I really enjoyed Tempest and Exile, but now I'm stuck waiting for Sacrifice to come out in PB. I have both Inferno and Fury, and I've heard good things. Now that I'm on a role, I don't really feel like stopping. Should I just blaze ahead and read Inferno?

It seems to me that each book has one major plot point, and I know the major plot point (or points) in Sacrifice. Should I still wait for it? Or does Inferno do a good job of summing up what happens?

Just a layman's opinion here, but personally I would not suggest you blaze ahead just because of the major plot point. It isn't the greatest novel of the series but you're defiantly skipping some big stuff if you skip Sacrifice. If you know the plot point then I suppose it doesn't matter quite as much but I would passionately suggest everyone read em' in order no matter what. That's probably not the answer you wanted. The mods may have a different opinion though.

Alternatively, why not try a library if you don't want to buy the HC? (or heck, scan ebay or something for a good deal on the HC)

Is it because the story flows better if I read Sacrifice before Inferno and Fury? Or is it just because they're meant to be read as a whole. It's the former I'm looking for, and if I'm not going to be getting the best read out of it if I skip it, then I won't. If it's the latter though, and I should only hold off because, "5 comes before 6". Then I feel like I should just skip it and read Inferno.

Suffice it to say that I've had little luck with my library in getting these books where I'm at, and it's not the most ideal solution as I'm currently on the move. The reason I don't want the HC (even if I could get a primo deal on eBay) is that I feel like Del Rey has done a good job packaging extra stories with their PB reprints, and I can't help but feel like if I wait, I'll get more bang for my buck. Also, even if that's not the case for this particular book, I find HC somewhat unwieldy, and would really rather just wait for the PB.

I'm sorry, Riot, how is Labyrinth an excellent book? Haven't read it myself, but they're chasing for Sidious you know they're not going to catch, and if they do, those can't live to regale it. Or was there more to it?

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their
movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own
superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

"Truce at Bakura" was my 1st EU book.....I remember being a little disappointed when I read it in '97 and it caused me to not pick up another SW book. Thankfully I returned to the EU around 2005 and eventually re-read all the books I missed.

Was anyone else disappointed with TaB when it came out?

Yeah, going from TTT to TAB was a bit of a shocker in terms of Star Warsiness. Even back then in middle school (or was it still elementary? ah the passage of time...) I found the whole entechment thing a little too out of place for SW.

I started with Thrawn Trilogy and went from there. Never read X-Wings, I Jedi, CoPL, or TAB. They never really interested me too much.

Anyway, I just read the Jedi vs Sith comics and I thought they were great. Now, here is my question....

Should I read the two recent Darth Bane novels?

I can't speak for the second one, but the first one is worth a read, though it rearranges and reinterprets certain events in JVS, it also does a pretty good job of fleshing them out and giving Bane some history.

I guess I'm a little biased towards it, as it was my first EU book, combined with the hype of Episode 3 at the time. But still, the book isn't bad, maybe not worthy of being "excellent," but I still recommend it to anyone who whats to get a little more insight on the relationship Anakin and Obi-wan had during the clone wars.
