Hey, I was wondering how important the e-books are in the NJO. Can I read the actual books only and understand the series? And if not, is there a site somewhere where I can download them for free?

You can download Ylesia for free here and the other NJO e-book is called Recovery. But I think you have to buy that one.

Recovery is also in the paperback of Star By Star. Ylesia will be republished in the paperback of The Joiner King next month.

>>does someone good turns to the dark side?? if the answer is no just say no and if the answer is yes please tell me who turns, why,by who is he/she turned and who is the good one tryng to bring him/her back to the good side. <<

Probably the best examples of this type of story are found in the comics- Ulic Qel-Droma and Exar Kun in the Takes of the Jedi series, Quinlan Vos (sort of) in the Republic and Clone Wars series, and Luke in Dark Empire.

Probably the closest to this type of story that can be found in the novels would be found in Shatterpoint and in the Jedi Academy Trilogy (and I, Jedi).

Video game-wise, the subject is touched upon in the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, and, as I understand it, plays a role in the plotline for the Knights of the Old Republic series.

>>1) Can I understand NJO without reading TCT and BFC? <<

Most of it, yeah. TCT probably factors in more heavily than BFC, primarily in one of the Agent of Chaos books. The BFC doesn't have significant impact on the NJO books except for a section of one of the Force Heretic books.

>>2) I liked DE. Would I like DE2 and EE as well? <<

You'll likely enjoy DE2 (though you might find some elements slightly repetitive). EE is generally a mess, but it does resolve the DE2 plotline.

>>Hey, I was wondering how important the e-books are in the NJO. Can I read the actual books only and understand the series? And if not, is there a site somewhere where I can download them for free? <<

You don't have to read the two e-books to understand the series. I haven't read Recovery myself yet, but it is included in the paperback edition of Star By Star.

Ylesia can be downloaded for free, and it does resolve one or two plot threads, but again isn't necessary to understand the other books.

>>I would really like to know of any story featuring Revan(even if he's just a cameo.) Also, any about the MandalorianS??? <<

Revan hasn't appeared elsewhere yet but I believe he was mentioned in a recent short story comic in SW Tales.

The best single source for info on the Mandalorians is The History of the Mandalorians article that appeared in SW Insider #80, which does a great job of tying together all the various small references and misc sources featuring the Mandalorians into a cohesive whole, as well as filling things out with lots of original information.

As far as actual stories go, probably the most significant appearances of Mandalorians in the EU would be the Tales of the Jedi comics (Dark Lords of the Sith & The Sith War) and the comic Jango Fett: Open Seasons.

So I might want to read TCT but I can skip BFC without missing anything? Is that what you mean? Thanks for the info on DE2 and EE, if I track down EE(it was mentioned in my old thread that it's hard to find) I'll read those two comics.

Yeah, the BFC introduces a race that makes a brief reappearance in a section of one book, but nothing that significant- it's just something that might have more impact if you did read BFC. TCT's connections to the one NJO book are more prominent, IMO.

One option you have with DE2/EE is if you can only find DE2, you can read that comic, and then read the transcript of the audio drama for EE online at Time Tales afterwards.

I have read the OT books and a few of the jedi aprentice books but could not get my hands on all of them. I was wondering what books you would reccomend that are based all on jedi and sith i find myself to get bored with reading a book out of the xwing series.
thanks

The prequel novels all feature Jedi- Cloak of Deception abd Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter might be to your liking, for example. Most pof the Clone Wars books too.

For the post-ROTJ era, the Jedi Academy Trilogy/I, Jedi and Darksaber are fairly Jedi-centric.

I Have A Question if you could help. I'm up to the place where I should start reading the X-wings, but I'm worried that I should read the comics first since I've heard they give you a decent background you need to understand the novels.

Are There any X-Wing comics that are really hard to get a hold of in any form?

Is it necessary to read the comics before the X-wings?

If I wanted to skip the Novel series until I had collected The Rebel Opposition and the TPBs, would I miss anything that would help me in understanding the non-Xwing novels which were published afterwards?

You shouldn't have any trouble reading X-Wing books 1-7 without having read the comics. The comics plotline mainly affects book 8 (Isard's Revenge). But some background elements are fleshed out.

If you were to skip X-Wing, you shouldn't have any trouble reading Courtship of Princess Leia, Tatooine Ghost, Thrawn Trilogy or the Jdi Academy Trilogy, but it would affect I, Jedi and probbaly Hand of Thrawn, and definitely NJO.

Also, X-Wing books 5, 6 & 7 (retroactively) set up some events that occur in Courtship, so reading X-Wing first enhances certain elements of Courtship (though, IMO, has the reverse effect that X-Wing is written much much better than COPL and so it's a little bit of a letdown in that regards).

The only X-Wing comic arcs that are hard to find are The Rebel Opposition (which was never collected, but also, desoite occuring first, doesn't affect the other arcs) and Requiem For A Rogue (which, IMO, was the weakest arc, though it kills off a character or two from the earlier arcs).

Peronally, I'd reccomend not skipping the novels and just skip the comics until you can jump back and read them once you have them.

No, the closest would be her appearance in Jabba's Palace in the ROTJ Radio Drama (under her Arica dancer alias).

An actress was hired to portray the character photographically a few years ago for Decipher's card game, and her likeness has been used as the basis for Mara in most sources since then.
