I think thats about where I stopped reading Children of the Jedi. I have read it in it's entirety before, but it was a long time ago and...you know what I mean. I've basically forgotten pretty much everything about it. BUT I have to say that picking it up for a second time (and then putting it back down), prompted me to change direction a little. I've had cloak of deception sitting on the shelf for a while now, but never got around to it until now. It was okay, but then I started reading the Dath Maul book which comes next and it was awesome. The paperback actually came with the short story Darth Maul: Sabatuer at the end so it was like double cool. Anyway, getting bored with COTJ was the kick start I needed to get back into the novels. I picked up both Darth Bane books yesterday, and have started on the first one. So far not too bad either.

I'm thinking of reading Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future. Those were the first EU books I picked up years ago. Thing is I didn't like them at the time. I half read Specter and skimmed Vision. Years later I read TTT and loved it. After The NJO and prequel novels I never really thought of the Thrawn Duology again.

Was this series as boring as I thought it was? I'm wanting to read about a Luke Skywalker of old. How is it on action?

If you liked TTT, you should like HOT. It's pretty much identical in style, with Zahn's ideas even more matured and developed. In many ways, I feel it's better than TTT. Go for it.

I got back into the EU with HOT. I found it to be quite solid. Amazing that Zahn planted the seed for it's storyline all the way back in TTT with a throwaway line.

I've read all the books in the post ROTJ time frame up to Darksabre. Children of the Jedi was so horrible, I don't think I could even pick up Planet of Twilight. That being said, what else would I have to read to get me up to speed for the HOT books? Or would I miss much if I just went strait to them? I really liked the Thrawn Trilogy, but all the other books after that were kind of blah.
