	More OT anything would be good. One curious thing though: why must so many character backgrounds somehow tie into a previously established character, be it major or minor. I'm thinking this makes for a rather small universe...

	There, sent in mine today. Felt oddly inspired by today's - nice, blank slate to start with. X-wing, Podracing Tales, and Republic Commando references abound, tho I felt it really suffered from having to pare it down to 2,000 words. I was at 2,700 from the first draft, so my nice intro had to go, in favour of the more meaty body. Bah. Nearly had to cut the little twist at the end, too, which would have sucked. -----signature----- hey, who turned out the lights?

	Or possibly someone from KotOR... I just noticed that one of these Rodian Mechanics tried to rob Qui-Gon in the Phantom Menace PC game. Rodian: "Hand over all your money." Qui-Gon: (using Jedi mind trick) "You don't need my money. You're sorry you have bothered me." Rodian: "I don't need your money. I'm sorry I have bothered you." Qui-Gon: "I'm looking for a T-14 hyperdrive generator." Rodian: "Ask Watto, he's got everything you need." So if anyone hasn't submitted theirs yet, they may want to add this. The way I see it, this Rodian was one of a few beings who suggested that Qui-gon check out Watto's shop.

	I don't think this should be canon. That would make this Rodian a tool of the Force or Palpatine with the purpose of leading Qui-Gon to Anakin. If that were so, that Rodian would influence the main point of the Saga: Anakin's Fall and Redemption. Anakin possibly wouldn't have been discovered if it weren't for that Rodian, Qui-Gon might have chosen another junk dealer. 	well, something (perhaps the Force) prompted Qui-Gon to say "we'll try one of the smaller dealers" and walk into Watto's shop... Anakin wouldn't have been discovered if the Force hadn't brought Qui-Gon to try the smaller shops and pick Watto's... i don't think the Rodian would-be-thief would be one of the mechanics. With the race only a day away, you'd think a mechanic would be off.. mechanicking on a podracer, and not trying to rob people. -----signature----- Prophet of the Church of Waru. 	Actually, the game is even more absurd. Padme tells you that a lot of people suggest that you talk to a boy named Anakin. And for some reason you meet Shimi first and have to promise to free her son before you can talk to him. I agree that's a bit too much. However, suggesting a notable parts dealer in town is not unbelievable, especially if the suggestion is coming from a mechanic. And its not like it was only him that told Qui-gon to look at Watto's; a number of beings mentioned his junkyard.

	New one won;t be up for a few more hours but I'll post my Rodian submission now I think: Garacks Garacks, alongside his cousin, Baracks, served as a mechanic on Mars Guo's podracing team shortly before the Battle of Naboo. A quarrel between them (over the choice of ion filter) motivated Garacks to bet against Mars (and, thus, his cousin) during the Boonta Eve race. The bet, however, would amount to very little if the odds-favorite Sebulba won. So, though Mars Guo's crash during the race brought him a small sense of victory, it wasn't until the surprise finish by Anakin Skywalker that he was brought to his feet in celebration. The Rodian used some of his winnings to help pay for Guo's recovery from his crash injuries. The rest, Garacks hoped, would be used to establish his own racing team with his cousin. Baracks, however, had no such ambition and wished to remain with Guo. So, Garacks left them and purchased a new Thundera-class service transport that was parked on the edge of Mos Espa. Propped up on it's three distinctive mechanized landing struts, the craft, which he named Rackstar, had a limited walking function that allowed it to be mobile without inefficient fuel consumption. Converting it's interior space into a personal workshop and garage, Garacks began traveling to several planets to assemble a team himself. After a couple years of designwork, Garacks had what he felt to be the perfect pod- all he needed now was a pilot, and he found one in Dents Tyerell- a son of the podracer who perished during the Boonta Eve podrace. Though Dents' family (including his brother, Pabs) was angry at his decision (which undermined their efforts to ban podracing under the newly formed Ratts Tyerell Foundation), Dents was determined to win the victory his father was robbed of and eagerly joined Garacks team. They worked their way across the podracing circuit for almost eight years, acquiring many victories, but none more sweet than their finish at the Ando Prime Centrum, where Dents edged out Mars Guo for the win. -----signature----- "When your future self tells you to do something, YOU DO IT."
