[Best Watto accent] Not bad...not bad... The response I was lookin for was,

"8117 17 11165 50 6127157106114 00173..." -- Thrawn, The Last Command

439. It's ancestor, anyway. Pager code was a pretty hardcore method of communication, born of economic efficiency taken too far in an age prior to text messages, cellphones, or voicemail. Most pagers could support about 19-24 characters, IIRC, so messages couldn't be too long; n00bs were likely to only be familiar with 1 10113 4011 or 1 177155 11, shortened affectionately to 143 for the number of letters in each expression. ::single tear::

It looks a lot better on the pager's LCD screen, since the numbers are based on lines (like a digital alarm clock), which would make digits like 17 appear more like the letter it is supposed to represent (n).

But now we have text messaging and IM services, which have ushered in a new evil: l33t speak, the bane of English teachers everywhere. wink

111007! wink

Looks like we'll be getting more greatness from Insider 86. Like... another Mando article.

I suspect this one will supplement Abel's, since it looks as though it will be about Mando culture while Abel's was about Mando history. cool

Right on schedule for History of the Mando's anniversary too. happy

UPDATE: Just turned in the final-final version of Grievous, with LFL's requested changes. Lotsa easter eggs for die-hards.

Also, Joe has sent me the sketches for the project, along with one finished illustration. They look fantastic. I'm going to try to punch through some captions for these like I did for Mandalorians.

Take care,
Abel

Hey, how did you know? tongue

Well, none of those actually, but among other things, expect to learn which Jedi Grievous exterminated, important aspects of Kaleesh culture and religion, and the origin of Grievous' name.

That's right, it wasn't always Grievous. wink

Take care,
Abel

Can you give us some examples of were the easter eggs are from and maybe what some are?
*Mostly just are any from Marvel or GODV*

Glad to hear it, Ms. Coffee. Hopefully that's truer on February 6.

Or mid-January, if you're a subscriber.

There's one from Marvel that I'm quite proud of... It's long overdue.

References will be all over the map. There should be a couple that will be a surprise. But what I also meant by easter eggs was out-of-universe homages and cameos.

Take care,
Abel

Oh yeah, and like I mentioned in the Droids and the Force thread, I'll also be doing an endnotes style article for Unknown Soldier in my blog when the article comes out.

Best,
Abel

Well I would expect that. I mean the Sith Lords weren't born with their adjectively names (eg. Sidious, Tyranus, and of course Vader). Grievous always sounded like a nickname, and maybe he was so mutilated in that crash that he looked quite grievous.

Just don't call him Bob, okay. :P
