When I saw this title the first thought that came to my head was
" Garth Ennis writing Star Wars?"

Which would be a very interesting to say the least.

Well we don't really hear Salacious Crumb sing "New York, New York", or in this case "Mos Eisley, Mos Eisley". Though the ears are close.

Grievous is a bad, bad man. And like most, he's haunted. He's built up layers and layers between himself and his humanity, or Kaleeshity as it were, to the point that he becomes an automaton, his egoism and self-centeredness empowering the Sith to manipulate him like a puppet.

Now are we going to bet that 'kaleeshity' will make it into the fine work of the Insider? raised_brow

happy I think Garth Ennis has done Star Wars. Didn't he contribute that stormtrooper story to Tales?

Just wait for the special special edition of Jedi packaged with the ultimate saga dvd release.

Certainly. And now that I look at it, that was a rather poor choice of word making-up on my part. doh!

Super_Battle_Droid, I'm shocked! If Revenge left the general's fate so obviously ambiguous, exploding and all, I'm certainly not going to ruin folks' right to interpret his fate.

Mace on the other hand... wink

Take care,

I'd always been under the impression that Mace and Grievous both survived, and later teamed up to travel the galaxy and solve mysteries.

I've struggled for days trying to figure out an appropriate response to this. It's been tough, but I've decided to simply take a deep breath, and go on with my life.

In other news, I've just announced on my Grievous blog that there will be a companion article to Unknown Soldier in the Insider #86 online supplement on Hyperspace. That should be up in late January or so.

Joe Corroney has also blogged about his illustrations for the piece. You can read about that here.

Between Insider, the Hyperspace supplement, and NEC-style endnotes on my blog, this should be a bona fide event. dancing

Take care folks!
Abel

Companion article? Does that mean another article on Grievous, or a another background article on a different character?

More Grievous. Basically, what'll be going into the hyperspace piece was what couldn't fit into the print piece due to word count restrictions. happy

I should have a title and more details soon.

Take care,
Abel

I saw earlier you said you were playing up parallels between Vader and Grievous. Will we see if Grievous has the fallen savior aspect of Vader?

I kind of picture him as a Leonidas/Alexander the Great/Peter the Great/Napoleon Bonaparte/Shaka Zulu/Crazy Horse/Ulysses Grant/Genghis Khan/George Patton-type military leader, strategic genius and harsh leader of his people, tactically savage but effective character.

Not for lack of desire, Super_Battle_Droid. In this business, you pay your dues first.

I don't know if Grievous has "fallen"... he was born into war, and that's an ambiguous place to be. I don't know that he ever had the moral high ground. But he does suffer, and I pity him.

Savior aspect? Well, certainly not in Revenge. He's an a-hole, and he dies an a-hole's death.

Like Luke and Anakin, Vader and Grievous are skewed mirrors of one another. Luke reflects how Anakin could've made the right decision when the chips were down by denying the Emperor's offer. Grievous reflects how Vader could've made the wrong decision by refusing to forgive himself.

I think we're on the same page. For Grievous, the ends justify the means.

...and he loves being mean. devil
