Hey folks!

Thanks to everyone who was involved in that little explosion over on the StarWars.com VIP thread: daniel, Rogue, Valin, Arf, Tam, QG, and Hydronium. I was surprised, so I know it must've raised a few eyebrows amongs the vips!

danielc56 posted:
Interesting cover...does this mean we'll get a write-up on Yoda's species!? whistling YEAH RIGHT! They plastered that image with NOT FINAL COVER to avoid incurring George's wrath!
I have to say I'd be quite surprised if that happened, though I've never understood the adamancy against revealing Yoda's species beyond perhaps old greenie being the "line" Uncle George isn't willing to cross.

danielc56 posted:
To carry the analogy further...

dvd -> material for sale (book, novel, game, Insider article...)
deleted scenes -> Hyperspace articles like 'Lord of War'
behind the scenes -> endnotes, 'making of..' info, developer diaries, etc.
commentary -> message board & blog posts
Heh heh... I like it! happy

danielc56 posted:
'making of..' comments by authors and artists would be awesome for many types of Star Wars products. Thinking of dvd commentaries...authors' podcasts/AudioCasts sound like an interesting concept... thinking
Well, yeah, Star Wars fans sort of spoil us. You can't get writers and artists to shut up about their work in the first place. Now with a reason to babble, we'll just keep on talking.

danielc56 posted:
Like I said, fans crave and expect more. It's great that the keepers of Star Wars' future realize so as well.
The cool part about message boards and blog posts as opposed to commentary on dvds is that it's more like a Q&A session after a screening. Only there's much less of the inhibition factor, so more good questions and conversations get asked and get going. This is one of my favorite parts. wink

P.S. - Abel & Joe, the Insider editors DID inform you you'd be required to sacrifice all free time for Star Wars duties, right?? tongue
I think it was in the fine print somewhere.

BootlegVader posted:
Abel just want to tell you that today I just got my insider, and your article was the first thing I read and I was clearly worth the wait. I liked the explanation of why the CIS was experimenting with the Nelvaanian warriors. I also liked the inclusion of Flint’s Dad in the article, as I have been expecting something like that since reading about Belderone in LOE.
Keep up the good work! peace
Thanks Bootleg! When I decided to emphasize a vague Native American aspect to the Kaleesh, the Nevlaanian borgs suddenly made perfect sense. (As did Palp's comment that Grievous was last seen on Nelvaan and the brief appearance of a Grievous schematic in the Techno Union lab).

Much like you I thought Flint's pops was similarly a no-brainer. As soon as I read the name Belderone in Labyrinth of Evil I was rooting for some anonymous Jedi deaths to stick that one in there.

Got my wish.

For the briefest of moments I considered doing just that, but then I imagined seeing "killed while escorting a Beldoronian transport" after every single one of their names. Nah.

But it was tempting. Who could've been on there, anyway? Even Piell, I suppose, though that'd be a bit anti-climactic for him. Still leaves another 25.

Take care,
Abel

Hmm, so there's still no details on the lil' guy's current status, then? Other than poor Depa, I think Piell is the only Councilor who hasn't been given a date with destiny.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and Coleman "I'm Not Pablo-Jill!" Kcaj. The new guy.

Yup. He's an animatronic alien who sings while you eat...and has induced many a headache in the Cosmic Ray's staff, let me tell you.

>I thought they appeared on the Ewoks cartoon first. You mean the Teebo book?<

Nope, I mean "How the Ewoks Saved the Trees", 1984. Kneesa also appears for the first time. It's possible that both were created for the cartoon, but it looks like this book was published first.

Someone may decide differently, but my sense was not really. Grievous was married to war, hatred, and revenge first. He only took multiple wives and had dozens of children as a misguided compensation for losing Ronderu.

On that note, I considered having one of Grievous' children among the Izvoshra, but ended up leaving that out. It's still a possibility, of course.

Interesting... seems that there ae stories that could be told here - which, of course, is the point, right? thinking grin cool

That was a no-brainer, for me. If Vader is based on the Grievous technology, he would obviously use it on Shira.

Hmm... how much cyborging did Shira actually need, though?

I know she'd been "enhanced" previously, but in the bacta tank after her TIE got shot up, she looked as though only her lower legs were maybe lost beyond repair... does Marvel ever say how much she was cyborged, and how much it was just armour?

Or did Vader do more to her than was strictly necessary?

However, Atha Prime's connection with Trachta in SWFF was discussed by TalonCard and Leto II on 20th June here, somehwat earlier than the earliest reference to it that I can find from you, on 8th July, here...

... I hadn't realised that he's mentioned in Star Wars Galaxy #2, as summarised here (Atha Prime one Issue, Lumiya the next? tongue ), and bizarrely, this page at TOS says there's an Atha Prime action figure...

Granted that's fanart, but I'm just curious... do Kaleesh really have little fin things on the sides of their heads? The Kaleesh from the NEG to Aliens (Great-Granny Grievous, I hear?) seems to have feathers or something on her head, but they could pass as fins I suppose... which I guess follow along with the fins on Grievy's mask.
