What? You guys thought I made the transition from fanboy to LFL writer through hard work? Bah! There are quicker, easier, and balder ways to achieve your ends...

I really loved the article, and I thought the length was pretty much just right. I thought Abel did a good job of divulging new details about Grievous' past and tying them together with elements from other sources. I also loved the Necrosis info in Lord of War love happy .
Thanks WhillJedi. Even the Insider Grievous piece was over the requested word count, but I felt it needed to be longer to give the general his due. And the same basically goes for Lord of War and Necrosis. You'll notice Nec's section is one of the longest in Lord of War.

Though I was pleased with the article's content, if I had to pick areas I would like to see expanded I would definitely choose the Izvoshra (these guys are very intriguing to me). Overall though, it was a great article and I can't wait for the endnotes!
Endnotes and Making Of coming! And maybe I can put in a couple more details about the khans in there.

I must say that that making Bridger's weapon a San-Ni staff is *exactly* what my first thought was when I first read about him in Dan Wallace's blog entry on the Clone Wars Sourcebook.
Wow. Maybe it's in something that Dan says. thinking

Well, I have to admit I wasn't anywhere as near sure they would be a good match for each other, and actually almost didn't give it to Bridger. The San-Ni is such an over the top weapon, I've been wanting to see someone use it for a while now. My hesitation came in the fact that since the weapon is so rarely seen, I didn't want the only guy we do see handle one get cut up in seconds (per Bridger's fate in the New Essential Chronology). But I figure the fight was just fast and furious, with Bridger getting in a few good whacks at Grievy before being diced. happy

Rogue_Follower posted:
And I liked how you made the cyborg Jedi (whose name escapes me right now...) in Grievous a Coway... precisely my impression of his species.
Can't take credit for this one. That was from the New Essential Chronology.

Grievous' tri-winged shuttle, as seen in the Clone Wars cartoon, and the shuttle seen in Visionaries.
Those are good ones, and I did consider them. I did at least name the Visionaries ship.

And more fashionable choices, too: If I ever get a LFL implant, I'll be sure to mark the box next to "Sweet Suspenders," not "Darkside Disgusting." wink

Sorry, don't have a scan. sad IIRC, its on the page dealing with the police station or related building, and the picture shows two droids restraining some sort of rampaging brute in front of the prefect/judge.

Thank you Jaymach. happy

The one on the right kinda has the Grievous thing going with his head shape and body design, but its still a bit of a stretch, even by my standards.

I wanted to know about Grievous' persoonal life with family and friends and ....if they had any....primal urges after reconstruction wink
Oh! Grievous certainly had a lot of tools to work with.

As far as his family and friends, the amount of space devoted to them in the Story of Grievous is in fact an indication of how meaningful they were to Grievous, which is to say a far second to war and Ronderu. And if you really want to split hairs, his relationship with Ronderu is an exercise in narcissism. They are so-called "twins"; in his dream, Grievous confuses her for himself; Grievous' name, Sheelal, encapulates their metaphysical inseparability.

What Grievous feels for Ronderu, he literally feels for himself. When she dies, however, he only has himself. Hence the simultaneous vanity and self-loathing.

kecen posted:
What was the age gap between Qymaen and Ronderu when they met?
Another instance where an omission is central to what I'm trying to communicate about their relationship. To quote a favorite author, ambiguity is part of Ronderu's design.

Not to get too thinky, but there isn't meant to be an answer to this question because it's technically unimportant to their relationship. But I'll put it this way: Ronderu is neither older nor younger than Grievous, and along the lines of the "twinism" of the characters, that can obviously be interpreted to mean they're the same age.

kecen posted:
How old was Qymaen when Ronderu died?
This omission was a matter of practicality. LFL can be touchy about character ages (because, of course, fans are so on point when it comes to little details like that). But off the top of my head? I'd say mid to late twenties. For comparison, I don't think the Huk Wars were ended until Grievous was in his thirties.

kecen posted:
How old were they when the shuttle was sabotaged?
Post-Huk War, so thirties.

kecen posted:
Did Grievous' great grandmother have multiple husbands?
Maybe. We'll see if Ann Lewis and Helen Keier allow for that sort of thing in Kaleesh society.

kecen posted:
And any chance of cybernetic implants on grandma?
Heh heh, probably not.

kecen posted:
If it were okay to get kisses(or equivelant) from your great grandmother XD
I pity the Kaleesh that don't get kisses from his great grandma.

kecen posted:
And if Grievous liked flaunting it. Because.....they were so proud of their droid body and all.
Grievous was a notorious poser and flasher.

Oh, I also would've like to have known where Grievous kept all his lightsaber trophies, cause I'm sure he was lugging them all around in his cloak. tongue

I always invisioned a room in the Invisible Hand of them in glass cases, and with a few Jedi heads mounted on the wall. tongue

Hot damn. I leave for a month and a half, and come back to find 35 more pages accumulated over one month. Just to confirm, I finally got my issue Saturday and enjoyed it immensely without any spoilers from here or the wiki. Now to read back 30 pages...

Grievous has no real feelings for family or friends?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
That shatters just about every pre-cyborg and "deep delving" fan work in the Grievous fanbase, thankyouverymuch, >:(
Wasn't this article written for the fans?
Off to the Weeniemobile, I will go.

...Grievous is still a Mama's Boy.
And Grievous is now the Galaxy's biggest shameless you-know-what. Now that you've answered all the necessary questions.

Excuse me please, it's just that what would Grievous angst be without things to angst over?
