Only continuity tears, alas.

It's finished and reviewed by LFL, AFAIK.
Take care,

Eh.... *cough cough*.... um....
Might I be so terribly bold as to ask for a spoiler?
Or maybe a semi-spoiler?
Or maybe even an old idea from the garbage masher?

Warning: folks who hang out at this thread long enough may develop Grievous-like symptoms. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Barriss_Coffee posted: Might I be so terribly bold as to ask for a spoiler?
Well, I couldn't give one at the moment even if I wanted to, since I haven't seen LFL's requested edits.
BUT...
What I turned in was basically an ORIGIN piece. So, unless the article is hacked beyond recognition, expect to learn the juicy who, what, when, where, why of good ol' Grievy.
Take care,
Abel

I'll ask a question you can answer and will allow me to answer it if anyone ever asks me it on the LoT thread.
How DOES Grevious stack up tactically against Thrawn?

Thrawn gets on Grievous' shoulders. They'd do it the other way around, but let's face it; all that metal is pretty heavy. Plus Grievous might slip on the ysalamiri.

I'll try not to cop out of this one.
I think Thrawn has the luxury of being written by a single writer (unless you count Michael Allen Horne's contextualization of Thrawn's Empire), and avoids the more sensationalistic characterizations of Grievous that have emerged as a result of appearing more or less simultaneously in almost every entertainment medium. Grievous was written by numerous authors and for different audiences. Because of this, I think the "tactical genius" model for Grievous founders a bit.
That doesn't mean he's not a heavy hitter when it comes to military know-how. Still, Grievous was ultimately an unwitting pawn of the Sith agenda, so it's hard to gauge just how much of his prowess during the Clone Wars was legit and how much orchestrated by Sidious/Palp's machinations. However, he did kick Huk a**, and, as mentioned above, Horne gives a sobering account of Thrawn's actual accomplishments.
Okay, okay, Thrawn would probably win. But that's because winning is the fulcrum of the Thrawn character: the tragedy is when he at last loses. Grievous' character isn't built that way. Grievous lost when he became a cyborg... and yet he still lives. That's his tragedy. Beyond that, winning or losing for Grievous is merely a matter of pride; for Thrawn, losing is a matter of essence.
Take care,
Abel

Yeah, he totally smooshed Sha'Gi after all.

That was pretty funny.
Abel, I'm unaware of the Horne piece you're talking about. Is it an RPG thing?

It comes from what's perhaps Mr. Horne's masterwork -- rarely, if ever, topped in the years since -- the Dark Empire Sourcebook from West End, a phenomenal evergreen resource of continuity and finesse.

Yep. He also worked on the Han Solo and the Corporate Sector Sourcebook.
Shame I never bought that CSA Sourcebook when I had the chance.

Oh, absolutely -- both of those books are reasons his contributions to the Star Wars saga cannot be underestimated, and it's simply a crying shame his name's not celebrated more on these boards. (Or known, for that matter.)

Horne's one of my favorites. I try to give him his due in miniature in this blog.
EDIT: I also updated with an expanded version of my Thrawn/Grievous answer above.
Take care,
Abel
