I don't know how you made it through Jedi Outcast, Jello. All those stormies you had to waste. I feel for you.

I got through it the same way I got through the OT--I admire the honor and valor of the stormtroopers and console myself with the fact that Katarn's treason will eventually be punished. grin

I don't visit Lit for a week or two, and when I return, I learn that a very friendly author has left. That's very sad. sad

Quoted for how I feel. She always seemed so friendly and engaging, it's a shame some very misguided sorts scared her off. I wasn't involved, but I pledge my support to this cause. Author/fan communication is a good thing, it's a shame a few can ruin it.

I must admit to not having read her books yet(it's on my list, I swear!) But I got a huge kick out of seeing an author take the time to vist and interact with the fans. It's saddenlig that a few bad apples made her go.

So I also sign this, and hope for Ms. Traviss's return. grin

It's just an absolute shame, since Ms. Traviss and others don't get anything for posting here. It's a simple courtesy--they don't get paid or anything. They volunteer their own time to answer our silly questions and to be nice and friendly, and it's just a pity that we drive them off like this. It's pointless to name specific names, but in general, it's just common manners to do so. One doesn't get far in the world by upsetting those with the good graces to make our fandom more pleasurable.

After all, I'm sure that no one would have the temerity to upset a VIP guest at a business dinner. What makes this any different? Or, simply in general, why give any sort of attack in general? There are certainly more tactful ways to resolve differences, and tact is a key component for social interaction in the civilized world.

Civility is a big thing for me, and I am distressed when faced with a barbaric lack of it. It must be why I like the Romans. tongue

I do not know the whole story of what happened, just the general idea and I am frankly appalled that the users of the Jedi Council have behaved this way towards VIPs who give their time freely to answer our questions, give us hints to future books, and spend their time and money to write us these stories to begin with. The guilty parties should be ashamed of themselves and frankly, Karen Traviss and the others should not return if we behave like a bunch of kindergardeners towards them.

They have given us a privilege and we have abused it and took it for granted.

Also, it is in my humble opinion, that those who have personally insulted the Authors should take the time and effort to write an apology to them via PM or email. A real and sincere apology. Not a "I'm sorry, please come back" kind of apology and longer than two sentences. This will help in bringing them back.

shakes head in digust

Since I am neither a Fandalorian or a Saxtonite and I rarely venture into Literature, I still give my pledge that I shall behave, honor and respect ALL of the Professional Star Wars Folk who come to this board to feed our Star Wars appetite and who come here to have fun themselves.

I completely and entirely agree. Karen and Ryan didn't "owe" us anything. We could either be satisfied with their work or not, but to personally attack them, defame and ridicule their work to their faces, and post undeserved backhanded snipes is a Super Star Destroyer length, whatever you want it to be (long, basically) over the line.

Would it be too much to ask that we stay on topic?
