Sometimes being clear can work against you---"Anakin's fate in SBS (spoiler)" for eg. I've ran afoul of that rakghoulish soup before, and liked it not.

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their
movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own
superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

Yeah too many times have people put the spoiler in the title, on the flipside though you need something in the title so people can diferentiate between spoilers they want to read for a book and spoilers they dont want to read for a book

REMINDER: Legacy of the Force: Betrayal is now out of the spoiler period. I'd ask people to remember common sense and common courtesy however.

So basically if you always use HTR text your safe posting about anything, so long as your not posting in a (No Spoilers) thread

No, you need not use HTR in a marked-as-spoilers thread, provided you purchased your copy legally.

3) Thread titles THEMSELVES should not contain spoilers within them, even containing the spoiler warning tag. Thus, "Han Solo Dies in TUF (TUF Spoilers)" would not be acceptable, but "Major Character Death!!! (TUF Spoilers)" would be permissible.

Now we just need to make a Jimmy thread based on that.

I swear this updated guideline was because I posted bit-by-bit spoilers on Betrayal in the Official thread. shhh It was in HTR too (I think).

BTW, there's a good chance I'll get Bloodlines early too. I'll be preordering it in the next few days. grin

I remember that. dp4m had said that no major spoilers were allowed until the release but minor spoilers were OK as long as they were HTR.

4) If you receive an advance copy of the novel in some official capacity (e.g. reviewer, translator, etc.), the posting of MAJOR spoilers (major character deaths, major secret plot points, etc.) from that source prior to the release date is forbidden. Small spoilers and tantalizing details will be allowed (e.g. "dp4m, give us a spoiler PLEASE!" "What, like the fact that the Imperial Remnant has been hiding an SSD this whole time?"), but the staff will be using their judgment to try and preserve as much of the "surprise" as possible. If you receive your copy via purchasing from a legitimate source (e.g. Amazon, your local bookstore, Half.com, etc.) in prior to the release date, you are free to post spoilers provided they follow the other rules listed in these guidelines.

as I read that paragraph.. Major Spoilers are only forbidden if you recieve your copy in some official capacity.. sentance 1. Last sentance states as long as you recieved your copy through a legitmate retailer (IE not official capacity as a translator or w/e) you can post all the major spoilers you like.. ofcourse I would expect even in a spoiler thread Major spoilers would be HTR and have visible "MAJOR SPOILER: DO NOT CONTINUE" tags previous to the HTR.. but according to that sentance even that isnt required.

Correct. If you purchase your copy legally, you're off the hook.

If you receive the book in an official capacity, you are limited in what you may post.
