I'm gonna call it now and say it'll be about that samurai Jedi from Force Unleashed.
Course, I'm probably wrong, but I'm calling it all the same.

RE: February 2008 Hardcover
I hope it will be a either a pre-LOTF or a post-LOTF novel about Luke,Mara and Ben written by Tim Zahn or as somebody suggested a novel set afterward about Luke's death or set just after Luke's death with Ben Skywalker as the lead character as a starpilot flying a starship of strange design as envisoned in Rebirth.

RE: February 2008 Hardcover
The direction I'd go with a post-LOTF novel series would be a second Outbound Flight program. This second Outbound Flight program would be one of Lando C.'s political platforms when he is elected to the role of Galactic Alliance president. Jedi Knight Ben Skywalker would be on the mission to explore another galaxy. At some point during the mission Ben will pilot that strange spacecraft Luke saw in a vision. Furthermore Ben will meet his future bride while on the second Outbound Flight mission. This future bride would be Mandalorian and the mother of Kol Skywalker. Ben, his wife and their son will be involved in establishing several extra-galactic colonies. As time and the conflicts build up a falling out between Ben and Kol will occur (shades of Indy and Henry Sr.). Kol will leave the extra-galactic colonies and return to the GFFA. Eventually Kol will become the grand Jedi Master of his grandfather's Jedi Order as seen in the Legacy comics.

I don't recall where it says Kol is the Grandmaster. I shall have to look it up.

So then he may not be the grandmaster. A Skywalker doesn't have to be the grandmaster. That kinda adds a whole new twist. What if a non-skywalker takes Luke's place?

Or there's no Grand Master at all. Fact is, there are only two known GMs in all of history. Sure, there have probably been more, but there's no reason to think there's always been one.

Well, it's been confirmed that there's going to be a Force Unleashed novel, so unless it's going to be on a separate contract, I'd say this is it.

If this is indeed
Force Unleashed
(and, given the timing, it almost definitely is), I can't think of a better author than Stover to tackle it.
Although the author almost certainly won't be him.
If it's Haden Blackman, I'll puke.

RE: February 2008 Hardcover
Well, the Luceno novel got canceled, and the Feb. Hardcover could well be something with the Force Unleashed. That and comic books, plus something from Palace Press. Who the heck are those guys (Palace)? Not bad though, could be interesting. If it is that novel, it will certianly build interest for the following year (2009) for the live action tv series. Beucase in that year you also have the 3 Coruscant books coming out and the last 2 books from Jude Watson's Last of the Jedi Series. You also have that Death Star Book in Oct/Nov of 2007. So the anticipation for the live action tv will start close to the end of this year. I can see no other explanation. Sue said that we would get more info on the Feb. 2008 at the end of this week, instead she went on vacation till the 20th, but the LucasArts Press relaease confirms that Del Rey will have a novel.

Luceno's Plagueis book hasn't been canceled. It's just on hold for the moment while they work out some backstory issues.

Just beacuse Sue Rostini went on vacation doesn't mean we won't find out about the Feb 2008 hardcover at the end of this week. We should find out Tomorrow or Friday.

If they are announcing it this week it will almost definitely be a TFU novelization/tie-in. It would be terrible marketing to announce two different big things in the same week. They would compete for attention.

RE: February 2008 Hardcover
the problems with the Plagueis book rumor is that some elements of the book is proving information that lucasfilm and books does not want given out to us the fans namely darth sidous's background. in other terms luceno has rework it to provide less detail on darth sidous then was ornally planned.
