Here's hoping it's because Matt Stover's just dumped a 800-page manuscript of I, Dark Lord: The Legend of Darth Sidious on Del Rey's desk... whistling praying

What did you guys expect? Do you guys think that Star Wars is going to continue pre-Episode 3 hype? Nope, without new movies, its little by little losing interest. Dark Horse can't keep a schedule, not everyone reads comic books anyway. This novel, Darth Pleguis is done for 2008, what, are they going to do another novel? Probably a stinker, cause when they cancelled that novel back in 2004 by William Dietz and they brought out that ditzy Yoda book.

I personally expect this one to be a sequel to DB: PoD: ANotOR. It apparently sold pretty well, so a sequel to it would be a rather safe choice. I personally doubt that DR is ready to take big chances so late in the contract.

Dark Horse never kept on schedule, even at the height of Clone War Mania. wink

That's a relief. Well takes a little bit to come up with a memorable story, I don't mind the wait.

Yeah, the lack of new movies is going to damage the franchise, but it's not simply going to die. Don't forget, we've got the two TV series to come, plus all current ongoing EU series, and more videogames in development. Star Wars survived the first sixteen no-movie years; I don't see why it can't keep going for a good while yet.

Isn't that the whole reason why the Expanded Universe was really created to begin with? Granted there were a few books and the Marvel series that were out around the time of the OT, but it wasn't really fleshed out until the 1990's. The EU is what sustains interest long after the movie hype is gone, and I really don't think that sales will fluctuate too much because of it.

Most likely it will be Lumiya-centric. It will serve as a quasi-prequel to the LOTF series. Topics to be covered might be-

1. Early life of Shira Brie
2. Becoming an Imperial recruit
3. Force ability gains Vader's attention
4. Vader treating Shira like a surrogate daughter (pre-ANH)
5. Mission to infiltrate Rebellion
6. Relationship between Shira and Luke Skywalker
7. Shira managing to survive Luke's 'friendly fire' and keep her pregnancy a secret from Palpatine with Vader's help.
8. Shira gives birth to Luke's son and sends the boy off to Tatooine to live among the Tusken Raiders.
9. Shira learns of Vader and Palpatine's deaths. Decides to visit Korriban and finish her training as a Sith Lord. Takes the name Darth Lumiya.
10. Returns to Tatooine to teach her son in the ways of the Sith. The Vong War erupts. Lumiya re-names her son Darth Krayt. He is to be a weapon against his father - Luke Skywalker.
11. Decides to use Jacen Solo via information provided by Vergere. Jacen is to be a kind of 'twisted John-the-Baptist'. Darth Krayt is to be the 'dark messiah of the Sith'.
12. Lumiya's learns to block communication between living persons and Force ghosts.

Looks like this'll be a Force Unleashed adaptation, unless they do another contract for it.

Boo.

If there will be a Force Unleashed adaptation, the publishing date for the soon to be announced novel would be relatively late considering when the game is supposed to be released... thinking The Republic Commando -novels are published outside the main contract, so they should be able to publish a Force Unleashed novel without it having to be this hardcover, couldn´t they? confused Also, I guess this means that one of those secret DH projects will be a comic version of Force Unleashed... thinking

Bah, tie-ins don't mean adaptations. And this would probably go on another contract, a LA contract.

Yeah, I doubt they'd have a game tie-in be hardcover.
