Does it say much on who the Dark Underlord is?

Not really, just a small paragraph. Most everything about him from this article can be found in his wookieepedia entry: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Underlord

I thought it was GREAT! I've been waiting for this article for years. So much information -- and the beautiful part is how elegently the various disparate bits of continuity are tied together, as if they were intended to tie together all along! Amazing work Abel! How much of this article had been revised in the five years since you wrote it?

Very impressed with this article. Interesting that the actual Insider article doesn't really have any new information and is just a summary of things we, for the most part, all ready know. I hope it's not a sign of a new direction, giving us more info in Hyperspace supplements than in the magazine. I do subscribe to both, but more people read the Insider than those who subscribe.

Is there any chance poor folk like myself will get to read this article? This sounds like the definitive Sith article I've been waiting for and it would be a shame if I'm forever unable to read it (barring a future in which I can and will pay $40 for a Hyperspace account).

More pressing is the matter of why there is, what looks like, a human lying next to him. Logically, Adas would have never encountered a human before.

EDIT: I've amended the Behind the Scenes and picture caption to indicate while the pic may be Adas, it has not be canonically established 100% that it is.

Well, if we've learned something In TOTJ is to not pay much attention to the little details. When we first saw Marka Ragnos, he was human too, the "Sith Species" hadn't been created yet. So we should focus mainly on the details that are given obviousely.

That said, it would be nice if we could ask Abel to confirm or deny whether Adas is supposed to have a connection to this or some other character.

Why don't you just buy a hyperspace subscription, in the long run it's more than worth it.

Ok, a round up of opinions, observations, et cetera on ye article.

-Sithspit and sithspawn are established as being Corellian curse words, which makes sense considering their (most common) sources in the X-wing novels.

-Bloodsoup, from Jedi vs. Sith, is established as an ancient Sith species food/beverage.

-As noted above, the Sith seem to be primarily left-handed. (As deduced from the Sith lanvarok, which works better on the left hand.)

-King Adas. Brought back from limbo, at last. happy

-It seems the Rakatans had the first holocrons. Could they be possibly related to that "mind-prison" in KotOR? And could the "mind-mazes" in Children of the Jedi be Rakatan in origin? thinking

-The learn of a Sith position called the "Shadow Hand" (something of a "right-hand-man", no?) Emperor's Operation Shadow Hand (in the Dark Empire series) is named for it, no doubt.

-Lots of info on the Tapani Sith and the Cleansing of the Nine Houses. I'd probably appreciate it more if I could find the Tapani Sector campaign for the RPG...

-Evidently, Lumiya got her holocron (does she have more than one?) from the Mecrosa.

-Darth Ruin was originally known as Phanius, and may have been an Umbaran. Have we seen this guy before, and not known it? thinking

-The Dark Underlord had a Zeltron commander... whom we saw in Joe Corroney's art for the History of the Mandalorians piece. wink

-Confirmation that Darth Rivan came before Kaan.

-Dark Lord Belia Darzu (another female Sith for you, Excellence! wink ) was a changeling.

-The Jedi learned of the Rule of Two from a darksider about 150 years before Naboo.

-About Thyrsian Sun Guard and the Sith mercrenaries... Oh, Abel, if you just retconned what I think you retconned... grin . Is this a reference to the Sith Mercrenary that Panaka fought with on Coruscant in the Phantom Menace game? "the Sun Guard wore helmets reminiscent of the elite Senate Guard, although instead of ceremonial robes these Sith mercenaries were mailed in black armor from head to foot" sure seems to fit his description perfectly. Plus, some were stationed on Coruscant, guarding Palpy's safehouse, which would put them at the right place at the right time... A great retcon! hugs

-More new info on the Jensaarai.

-Some info on a Sith researcher named Murk Lundi---a Quermian. tongue

-Darth Millennial was a three-eyed mutant. grin His master was Darth Cognus.

-Lots more info on the real Prophets of the Dark Side. Some were killed by Azrakel, and the rest were offed by Lumiya and Jax.

-Carnor Jax was once a member of Blackhole's stormtroopers, before he became a Royal Guard. This helps explains his taste in black armor, and in black-armored Stormies.

-It seems that the Empire thought Lumiya had been killed in her battle with Mara Jade on Caprioril.

-It is implied that Flint committed suicide on Belderone after the events of the Jedi Academy game. sad

-A great reference to Luke's list of Force users, from Rebel Stand. Evidently Luke started compiling the list in the wake of all the pop-up Darksiders (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, etc.) Also, Jaalib Brandl is now considered a Darksider, following in his father's footsteps.

I'll Just Repost what I had posted so that people can see everything in one page:

General Information

-Korriban is again called homeworld of the sith

-The Sith Species "attitude" was a result of an early encounter with Anzati

-The Sith Species was Left Handed

-Kissai: The Sith Priests Caste

-Massassi: The Sith Warrior Caste

-Adas was 3,000 years before the Republic (27,000 BBY). The "True Sith" are just the Sith before the Dark Jedi Came!

-King Adas had charcoal skin and unified Korriban. He was "massive, regal and encased in majestic ebon warrior armor"

-Adas was 300 years old when he earned of the title "Sith'ari"

-Rakata attempted to conquer Adas and the Sith, taught him how to do holocrons.

-Sith Won, but Adas died. Everything he knew passed down in his holocron (complete sith teachings)

-Holocron passed to the king's "Shadow Hand"

-Sith relocated to Ziost, made it their capital, but became un-unifified

-Exiled Jedi called Jen'jidai by the Sith people; they had lightsabers.

-Shadow Hand helped the exiles kill the ruling Sith monarch.

-Sith people concluded the Exiles were more powerful than their "god" the "Sith'ari"

-They gave the Exiles Adas' Holocron, they learned everything.

-After this, the reign the first Jen'ari (Dark Lord) began

-Lord Garu was the last to have Adas' holocron. Died around the Great Hyperspace War. Freedon Nadd found teh holocron eventually.

-7,000 BBY a few of the recently exiled Sith returned to attempt conquest, lost, revealed that the Sith were out there.

-Republic purging of Sith was so thorough as to rival the Bothan ar'kai

-Darth Ruin was an Umbaran named "Phanius"

-Ruin unified and learned from surviving Sith Clans. He was a Dark Lord amongst many Sith he recruited, they betrayed him and so began the war.

-Belia Darzu was a changeling and a creator of Monsters

-Kaan was a narcissist

-Darth Millennial had 3 eyes

-Another one of Sidious' groups caled "The Emperor's Eyes"

-A "Dark Jedi" Conflict 150 years before Naboo.

-Darth Sidious "Thyrsian Sun Guards" (pre-Empire)

-We learn what Lumiya's been doing (Battle with FLint in Vjun, Jax, Korriban, Nyssa, Adas' Holocron, etc...)

Lumiya

-After Vader's death, Flint went to Bast Castle

-Lumiya found him eventually, and they battled, um, "Flint's despair was no match for Lumiya's hatred" and so Lumiya became his master.

-Lumiya sent Flint to kill Luke while she prepared the Nagai

-Lumiya heard of Flint's "redemption" and vowed to deal with him eventually, she sought to take another apprentice.

-Lumiya made a deal with Ysanne Isard, and she transferred some Royal Guards to here, including Carnor Jax.

-Lumiya and Jax kill the Prophets.

-She gave him limited training, and told him she would need to "gather necessary elements to rebuild the Sith ORder"

-Empire and Republic thought Lumiya dead after Caprioril.

-Lumiya orders Jax to infiltrate high places in the empire and prepare for the "ultimate threat to the sith legacy"

-The Reborn Emperor Revealed himself (this is what Lumiya was talking about) and Jax became par of his group.

-Jax did the whole physician poisoning clones thing.

-Jax then tried to contact Lumiya to lure her into a trap, but Kanos killed him.

-Before Jax died, he told Lumiya about a "stranger" named Nom Anor who was "interested in a possible alliance with the Dark Lady".

-At some point after the Battle of Endor, Lumiya goes to Nyssa and retrieves King Adas' Holocron from the Mecrosa (who had had it for a very long time)

-On Korriban, with King Adas' holocron and "through an Ancient Sith Oracle" she "watched circumstances unfold with great satisfaction".

My Thoughts
So basically I guess that next she learned everything Sith from the Uber-holocron of Adas, and with help of Nom Anor contacted the Vong and Vergere before the war. Vergere told her about Darth Vectivus and she spent the remaining time in his Lair, learning more and formulating her plan.

PS: There's no mention of Vongorella

AABEEEEEEEEEEEEL...

how in the 7 hells of Corellia can you be so genius, my friend?

this is the best thing I´ve read in a long time! I WANT MORE

and I want your end notes for this one as well of course wink

thoughts I had when reading this thing:

1) AWESOME, but: Sith'ari no longer choosen one? well, it still can be, so doesn´t matter

2) Always Sith, which seems to be the new EU direction, implies eternal war.. Star Wars.. so will there never be a "happily ever after"? I hope there will be, because eternal war, though realistic compared to our real world and its troubles, sounds pessimistic. Longer periods of peace are needed in between. or only regional conflicts and not galaxy wide ones.

3) Sith always bad? the article implies that sith are the antiheros always, and leaves out the new evidence from EU (Legacy etc.) that Sith arn´t just evil, though most have been. I missed Darth Vectivus, Vergere and such stuff inside but this will follow in upcoming works, I know I know^^ patience.

4) can we get dates for the timeline of events you mentioned? battles, pre-repubic stuff, etc.? pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase

more to follow when I reread it more than 10times

What does the article say about the Mecrosa Order and the Cleansing of the Nine Houses? Also, does it mention what happened to the remnants of the Krath and the Sith Brotherhood after the Great Sith War?
