	Yeah, I'm guessing that only the bad Hutts make enough waves to reach any of the stories. The tend to stay away from the Core Worlds and do not really get anyone to notice them unless they are doing something really heinous. Aarrba is one example of a nicer Hutt. He was pretty decent to Jori and Gav. The one line that always cracks me up is "Please don't let it get out that a Hutt extended credit." 	I wouldn't necessarily say that Randa was a good Hutt. He may have been less ruthless than, say, Jabba, but he was still calculating and mercenary.

	It's not "racist." They're known for being gangsters. Presumably, on Nal Hutta, Hutts fill every societal niche, but when they try to movie in to the galaxy at large, in the already well established world of the Republic with its status quo and - let's face - largely human dominated society, the Hutts tend to find great success in organized crime. An okay real world example is...well, in Italy, Italians as a people don't associate themselves with the mob, but here in the United States, the mafia is probably one of the first things that comes to most peoples' minds when they think "Italian American." 	I don't think it's even that that's the niche they fill best as much as that's the way they do it. The Hutt clans are organized into kajidics, basically crime families. So pretty much every Hutt, by birth, belongs to a criminal syndicate. So they may not all choose to take prominent roles in the families, but the roles are there for the taking and seem to be what the most competent Hutts are guided into. 	But that's why it's the niche they fill best. I tend to think that's why it works with most of these "species stereotypes." All these species evolved differently and developed differently, and then they get smashed together with a ton of other species and find they do some things better than other species. Muun's minds work very mathematically, so going into banking just makes sense in the Republic, because, well, humans don't do it as well as they do. 	Yeah. The Hutts must originally have found some sort of success in organized crime (most likely related to their prior hegemony over much of the Rim and resultant power, assets, and contacts), but now it has less to do with that and more with the existing Hutt social system. -----signature----- "Is there a captain's hat involved in this?" 	If you mean "It's how we've always done it, it works, so why change?" then yes, I agree with you. As for the social set up: I imagine the idea of "clans" preexisted their forays into crime, and its possible that Hutts never really saw the line between business and organized crime that other sentients do. 	As that old country-western song goes, "Stand by your Hutt" I doubt that anyone would consider Randa as ruthless as Jabba. Jabba was a bloated criminal who manipulated, stole and smuggled illegal matierials for personal gain.
