Hey guys,

Any confirmation of "A Practical Man" being published in the paperback of "Betrayal"?

Also is there any goodies in the Outbound Flight Paperback?

I think Betrayal is reprinting two Traviss stories that were in Insider, I think. I'd guess that Practical Man would be reprinted in the paperback version of Sacrifice.

Outbound Flight has Mist Encounter in it.

why on earth do they put the e-books in reprints of hardcovers? It's like they're asking me to stop buying hardcovers (a scenario that would please the wifey to no end, as hardcovers are expensive)...

doh! Nevermind, I forgot the cardinal rule when trying to figure out any decision from DelRey/LFL...."DelRey/LFL hates the fans."

I don't like it either, but it's a common publisher's thing -- not DelRey/LFL. Paperback versions often have additional material that aren't included in hardcovers for two main reasons -- one, to further encourage those who weren't willing to buy the HC to pick up the PB; and two, to get that small percentage of fans to "double-dip" and buy the PB version even if they have the HC. It's a very similar marketing concept to why you see like 12 versions of the same movie come out on DVD with different extras, etc.

Oh, for heaven's sake. They're just trying to make a few extra bucks, and we win in the long run, since stuff like Mist Encounter and Ylesia gets reprinted. It's a win-win situation.

And the problem is ... ??

If you stop buying the hardbacks and go for the paperbacks, you get the book cheaper and with bonus content. I fail to see the malfunction here.

You also get it a year later, by which time you'll be spoiled to bits already.

Plus, collectors tend to favor the hardback version of the book. Looks better on the shelf.

This is why Barnes and Noble has those nice, comfy chairs. All for reading the e-book reprints.

That's what the library is for. Unless you live in, say, the Yukon, you should be able to interlibrary loan it, at worst.

I spent years getting the HCs from the library then waiting to buy the PPBs. (These days I've given up on both but that's another matter....)

The reprint e book thing in the paper back does piss me off. Are the e books on hyper space?

Nope. Hyperspace only has short stories that were printed in magazines and such. They don't have actual e-books.

The only exception there being Ylesia, which you can get for free at TOS.

I'm happy to see that some stories that were previously printed in other magazines are making their way into paperbacks.
I would love to see a compilation of the Clone Wars short stories all compiled into a "Tales of the Clone Wars". I think it would do well!
