Hmm... yet we know the SA rescues battle damaged Vader, don't we? Or is that just a theory that I'm mistaking for a genuine fact?
If he does rescue him though then I guess it means the SA isn't the one leading the Rebel Alliance assault. Oh well. I can dream.

These dark guardians must prove their loyalty and combat skills when they face an assault from the Rebel Alliance, leaving Vader badly damaged."
Which we know from previous spoilers that it takes place onboard the Death Star.
Anybody have a problem with any of that?
And now to the ending:
"...the Apprentice must choose his destiny.
Join Vader and wipe out the remaining Jedi, or become a noble Jedi and bring hope to the Galaxy."
My money is on the SA doin the obvious, hebecomes a Jedi, but never meets Ben, at some point visits Yoda and then as we know, escapes the showdown with Vader. The sequel will take place after ESB, so that when Yoda tells Kenobi's ghost, "No. There is another...", Ben doesn't look like such an idiot for looking genuinely surprised.
Haha heck of a story you have there. That would be a pretty cool link to ESB. But if he turns Jedi, wouldn't he have killed Vader right then and there?
I have to say, I'm so tired of "redeemed" villains. I prefer my villains to be flat out evil. Sure some turmoil is always interesting, but in the end, I'm tired of seeing the bad guys turn good. It's so old.
Villains are best when they're villains. You can bet Darth Maul wasn't ever going to "turn good."

Zorrixor, from all I've gathered, I am under the impression that it is the Secret Apprentice who leads the assault against Vader and the Empire. He betrays Vader in the process of becoming a noble Jedi, and what better way to do that than to sabotage the Empire's newest WOMBB.(WeaponOfMuchoBomBadness)
And Darth-Wyrm, I completely agree.
I may not even play through the lightside ending.
Call it my own personal boycott.

Interesting...I guess that's not right after RotS, after all.
Yup.
And, incidentally, has Ulicus seen this trailer on YouTube, with what looks like cut-scenes of the SA, well, throwing Vader around like a doll? I've just seen this.
Are Phobos and Desolous only on the PS2 version, then? I may end up buying two copies then, depending. Wii and PS2...

I've seen the stuff where the SA is throwing Vader around like a rag doll in the "VS Mode", which doesn't bother me so much. I've not seen him doing anything of the sort in the game proper, though I'm expecting he will.

I think they're PS2 only. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see them as downloadable content for the 360 later on.

Phobos and Desolous will be included for the Wii, PS2 and PSP versions.
It was confirmed over at LucasArts Forums by one of their VIP's.

Downloadable content...
I like how you think. I hadn't even considered that. It would make sense though.
Desolous/Phobos are on the Wii version as well as the PS2 though; at least assuming the trailers are accurate and its not a case of that they'll be removed from the game before it launches.
One thing I'm incredibly curious about is how much effort they seem to be putting into making Vader play differently... for just one level. It just seems a little odd. He has slightly different Force powers, his posture and walk is different, his animations are different. It all just seems an unusual amount of work for one level.
I suppose swapping lightning for grip was not exactly difficult... but all the animation changes are a welcome surprise. I assume its just because if he is the final boss a lot of his animations had to be done anyway but... I'm still a little intrigued by it. It just seems too much effort for what is such a short tease, which is making my mind do sommersaults with the possibilities (i.e. whether we'll be allowed to replay the full game as Vader, for example).

I don't think it's all that unusual, considering the context. This isn't just anybody. This is Darth Vader.

I agree with the suspicion there'll be a code or an "after you beat the game" feature that lets you play as Vader.

Well, I always assumed he'd just play the way the Duel Mode characters all will, i.e. a carbon copy of the SA just with a Darth Vader skin. Usually marketing like "OMG! You get to play as Vader!" amounts to just that, marketing, with no real substance beyond a "Vader costume" the same as any of the various SA costumes.
The fact they're actually putting care and attention into it is quite genuinely impressive. I suppose it may just be because the game is delayed they're actually making the most of the time rather than shelving it and starting work on the sequel. If so, fine tuning things like making sure the first level with Vader is a genuinely fun and different experience makes sense. If that is the case I'm a little more optimistic about the game actually being a good game, Star Wars and storyline aside. We've had way too many rushed out and unpolished Star Wars games in the last few years.
Of course, the cynic in my worries they'll be releasing a demo of the first level and so want the Darth Vader part to provide a mix of eye candy and fun to bring in the sales. So, part of me dearly hopes the rest of the game is as polished as Vader. Still, if the whole game is as polished then TFU should be a very good experience.

Right, but like I said...it's not all that odd considering what we're dealing with.

Soul Caliber Darth Vader is said be a bad to the bone, Force-wielding, master-swordsman... and the screen shots that were inside gameinformer(IIRC) absolutely looked amazing.
There will be no download content, at least not this year.
All the info is up in of the TDE threads at lucasarts.

Nothing new, really.
A couple new shots of Vader, but I didn't think it was worth buying since it will be online anyways.
