i'm new here so i've probably missed this discussion. Any ideas on who the secret apprentice might be? i think it may be either Ferus Olin or Drake Lo'gaan.

Could we have found our battle scarred Darth Vader? wink

Or more likely we've found our "dead" Apprentice.

Ah, he's faking his death then?

Oh well. It was wishful thinking on my part anyway.

It's someone who's been pretty much raised by Vader since he was young. That rules out Ferus.

I expect it'll almost certainly be an entirely new character.

Much as I'd like to see them link it in with something else and cut down on the number of apprentices or apprentice-like characters I'm just expecting the next in the ever increasing line of Vader's apprentices.

At least with the mainstream nature of FU this one might actually become a "main" apprentice allowing us to treat Vader as only having had two decent apprentices (the SA and Lumiya) and be able to largely treat the rest as just a bunch of short-lived failures.

It'd be nice if Vader's Legacy (or else another Abel-class article) one day gave us some kind of chronology of all these people. It might actually discourage them from constantly creating new ones too if they realised the whole era was already covered with at least one of them at any given time.

That would be a very Vader thing to do. I'm betting the droid plays into things somehow -- either Hurt Vader or, as likely, Fake Apprentice.

In keeping with the droid's "mysterious origins"...

*Hurt Vader lies defeated on the ground in front of the Secret Apprentice
Apprentice: Finally, I've destroyed the person who ruined my life!
Vader: Actually, you've destroyed your oldest friend.
*Hurt Vader flickers until the illusion fades and shows Proxy*
Apprentice: NO! He wouldn't have fought me!
Vader: He would if I told him to, I built him after all.
Apprentice: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Vader: Oh, and about Juno...
*Vader nods towards Proxy*
Apprentice: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

while i agree that it's probably not Ferus(because that would be too cool). I don't think it would be someone he trained when they were young. just because the secret apprentice is wearing some sort restraining band on his arm (or neck i can't remember which). if it was someone he has been training since they were young the restraining band wouldn't be necessary because said apprentice would be loyal to Vader.

There's a video in which the writers say that Vader's been raising the SA since he was young.

Yeah.

You think that the Secret Apprentice, being more powerful than anyone else we've seen alive but Vader/Sidious, would be able to detect that he wasn't fighting his Master.

Thats the problem with star wars eu, the force is way to liberal. The cartoons are just the begining. The had the most uproar, but man there was Dark Empire, Dark Empire 2, Empire's End, the whole Tales of the Jedi/ Darl Lords of the Sith crap, The Courtship of Princess Leia novel, Darksaber, I could keep going on and on. And while we are at it, what about that flow walking/time travel crap. Even the rpg's state that the Witches of Dothmir can acutally use force flight....in other words fly in the air. Were in the actual novel did they ever do that? So its the eu in general that has created a bunch of crud. I'm hoping that the new cartoons finally bring justice to the clone wars and GL finally says this is how the wars really occurred from the end of AOTC to the begining of ROTS.

The new video game will no doubt be good, but this trying to make the force way out there for the video game, then tone it down for the novel and comic books don't jive with me. A game that would have struck a good cord with fans is a an rpg trilogy like Mass Effect, with a whopping storyling and tie-in novels. This is what I expected from Lucas Arts. Instead, we get blow the galaxy apart video game, that is toned down for the novel. I don't know I'm going to reserve my reservationa on that one. We have been down this road with GT cartoons and the fans here tore it apart.

Yeah, it's Star Wars.

The Force is magic. It can do everything that magic can do.

woah woah woah!

It was TPM which turned Jedi & Sith into expert lightsaber artists including flips and tumbles and superspeed.

As for the witches of dathomir, et al, they were EU creations in the first place. And Force flight is (rightly) extremely taxing. Only the most powerful/highest level characters are able to sustain it for a reasonable period of time. Seeing as they are the highest level/most powerful, it's only right they're able to acheive amazing feats of skill and control.

BUT ( tongue ), I completely agree with the extravagance of the Force powers so far displayed. My hope is these force powers go down as game mechanics, and therefore hold no canonical ground

Luke was flipping about in the OT... and had at least one instance of superspeed ("up, up and away!" style out the carbon pit)

They weren't as flashy with their swords though, no.

Funnily enough, I'm more anti Force flight than I am pulling Star Destroyers out of the air.

Even if only the most powerful characters can fly, that still begs the question "why don't we see Luke doing it?". Or, one better, Palpatine. We've seen both of them do stuff on par/beyond pulling Star Destroyers out of the air... but [we've never seen them fly about. (Though I think Luke's levitated himself down slowly a couple of times before, which is close I'll admit).

My hope is that the movie Force powers are a result of Mace's quote "our ability to use the Force has diminished" being retconned to cover the entire spectrum of abilities, rather than just divination. Well, if the OTT powers appear in the novelization and stuff as well at least.
