the novel is very very well written but it is no Stover, traviss or denning style (which is not bad). without spoiling anything yet, it has lots of surprises and cool turns storywise, very unexpected ones with heavy impact on the backstory of certain star wars key elements. but i promise, you'll like it.
the author rules and includes nice eu tidbits, and the fights, and characters are really well portrayed, if not to say awesome. the jedi enemies especially have very interesting ... well i'll post that later in the spoiler topic.
the perspective is very pro-imperial in the beginning, with the empires pov on the clone wars, jedi traitors, etc. and that explains a lot and is pretty cool. though it is hinted at that povs might change...

Well, in my official capacity as "Resident TFU Pessimist" I'm going to say for the benefit of those who wish to remain unspoiled - without spoiling anything myself - that currently the spoilers have me in a state of "cautious optimism", which is saying something for me.
There's some bold stuff going on here... stuff that really does shake the foundations on which we've built our picture of the Classic Era. And there was me thinking it was just the usual pre-release nonsense.

Color me surprised at that too. I mean, it doesn't make the marketing any less annoying (:P), but it's kinda nice when hype actually means what it says.
It's funny that my reactions towards this project have mirrored that towards TCW; at first I was pretty apathetic, but as more information about the project itself forced its way past the hype, I've become more interested until now I'm actually looking forward to it. Meanwhile, TCW, which looked really interesting initially, has bored me without even coming out.
