I haven't read the comics, but fromwhat ive heard, they seem like second generation ripoffs of the trade federation rather then the original EVIL GALACTIC EMPIRE

The Empire isn't run by the almighty Frank Palpatine anymore, so that kind of limits their EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL factor.

The Second Empire is nothing like a trade conglomeration. This is like comparing the Second French Empire--undeniably inferior to the First French Empire--to OPEC. It does not make any sense.

Well.. Krayt's Empire is certainly just as vile as Palpatine's, but Fel's Empire not so much. It's pretty much a tyranny(in the old Greek sense of the term rather than the connotation it takes today) vs the Republican status of the GA. Fel's was the kinder, gentler Empire. Certainly not weaker... it did stomp the GA rightly or wrongly, and the GA were the heirs to the people that brought down the original Galactic Empire.

Well, they took Coruscant away from the Galactic Alliance, & creamed them in an all out war, they couldn't be all that weak. The only way it could be concievably be considered weak is that it has never really controlled the entire Galaxy the way the original Galactic Empire did, since There was always the Galactic Alliance up until the point it was destroyed, immediately after which the Empire split into two factions. (The Fel Faction, a.k.a. the TRUE Empire, and Krayt's treacherous Sith Empire).

I wouldn't characterize it as a tyranny, since the Greek version still had a notion of unjust or arbitrary rule (see Polybius). Hereditary monarchy, enlightened despotate, and/or autocracy work better.

The Imperial Remnant was founded by Pelly using Daala's ex-warlordist régime. The Second Empire is merely the legal extension of the Imperial Remnant, and is distinct from the First Empire. happy

If you mean that there wouldn't be a new Empire if Palpatine's old one wasn't an utter failure, then I certainly agree...
Maybe the Fels discovered some sort of secret formula like, oh, I don't know... "Let's shed the superweapon-obsessed, misogynistic, xenophobic, rule-by-fear parts of the Empire"... I'm sure currently he's added "And absolutely nothing to do with the Sith at all" to the winning formula as we speak.

What winning formula? The Second Empire reigned over a galactic backwater for most of its existence. It was nothing but a renamed Remnant where the monarch is a eunuch.
