Since there will be a novel called Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor will there be more Luke centered adventures with Luke Skywalker in the title much like the Harry Potter books? What about a Luke novel called Luke Skywalker and the fate of the Unknown Regions with him,Mara and Ben set either pre or post-LOTF written by Tim Zahn or Luke and the next young hope with Luke passing on the torch to Ben as leader of the Jedi?

We need at least 2 more to match Han and Lando.

Could you imagine Luke Skywalker in the Dark Empire (A novel by MWS) or how about Luke Skywalkr and the Empire of the Hand by Zahn?

I'd love to see a Dark Empire novelization. I do hope there's more "Luke Skywalker and ____________" novels, and I'm kind of hoping they'll pick up the old "From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker" thing again for these.

His name in any title is a pathetic marketing lure. Most books have the old bugger anyway. laugh

Not even Luke Skywalker and the Quest for Excellence? tongue

You have any problems with the old Daley Han Solo books what were bedecked in the same Kablaam title?

Nope. The past was yesterday. Publishing practices have advanced since the '80s and early '90s. Now they're okay to release 700 pagers from first-timers, they;ve learned not to hypenate spaceport, and cover art is generally better. It's what is today that matters, and Skywalker's name in the Mindor book looks down right ridiculous . . . but I understand the reasoning involved. You know, it just makes the book look silly. *shrugs*

Luke Skywalker and the Hat of Freakin' Sweetness.

Luke Skywalker and the Goblet of Hot Chocolate

At least they don't have "Dark" in the titles.

I think cheesy things like this are great as long as they are intentional. And Star Wars seems to be taking steps towads knowingly cheesy stuff. We have Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor (which I think is actually a bad marketing decision to pick up new readers, because I never want to read something that looks cheesy, but the fans know better, and as a result it is an awesome marketing strategy for us even though we would already know that Luke was in the book). We have intentionally cheesy word bubbles on one of the best Star Wars comic series ever. And we have a well done, but very pulp cover for the upcoming Jedi Twilight which fits the pupl sound of the name anyway.

I think this is overall a good trend. It means that Star Wars isn't taking itself quite as seriously, having some fun, hopefully bringing in more interesting stories, and overall going back to its roots in a way that the fans can appreciate.

And aside from the awesome name of Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor and the fact that it is being written by MWS, it really captures my attention because it is breaking the mold DR has created for itself. It is going back to a warlord of the week. It is going back to the New Republic era. It is going back to fill in the pieces. Even better it is based off of some throw away line in some old sourcebook. While the events of the story are important, it doesn't seem that it will be a "ZOMG TEH GALAXY IS ABOUT TO BE DESTROYED" story like what DR usually does. Instead it will just be a powerful warlord, hopefully more in the spirit of Bantam. You could argue that DR tried to do this with TG and SQ, but those seem to have been thought up more as couples novels than NR-era novels.

I don't think so. Ben doesn't want to be seen with his old, uncool parents now. Why would he want to hang with them as an adult?

I would like to see a book about Luke and Mara and Ben getting to know Ben when he was a kid. Like five or six. He has been pretty ignored and what I see of the kid, I am not crazy about.

Can there really be a whole novel based on a seven minute event?

When I was Ben's age I didn't want to hang with my parents... I'm 27 now and I like hanging out with them. You tell me why he'd want to hang out with his parents when he's an adult and has more perspective on life and family...

Shadows of Mindor. Bah. They didn't need that title to sell the book to me.

"Luke Skywalker and his character as written by Matt Stover."

Count me in.

I went back and reread "Traitor" the other day. Holy Hapes that book is good.
