Jacen wasn't being trained by a future Sith Lord that was dumbed up by a crazy bird headed alien when he was knighted. And besides, Ben will be 15 when this ends. I've sorta forgotten now, is this still a thread were people express why they want him to die or has it become a thread where we simply state why we think he defiently "is" going to die?

The official timeframe.

Ben's fourteen and the nine book series will end when he's sixteen. His birthday is in the middle of the year.

What's wrong with that?

He turned 14 in Exile I think. He began this series at age 13. Thats how I gathered it.

The series, so far, isn't progressing that fast.

In other words, is this speculation, or did Rostiti or Chee mention this somewhere?

I think that's back from when LotF was first announced. It is more than possible that they could have changed their minds and shrunk the timeline, just like this supposedly isn't the final big adventure of the Big Three despite them saying things to that effect on the announcement of the series.

And I for one like the short timespan. I think it works better than say jumping a year between TJK and TUQ.

Yes, well you hold the mythical copy of YJK written by God Himself as opposed to a mediocre pair of sci-fi authors writing down for children.

Fixed.

It's not official. There's no way they'll get another two years out of this in the remaining books. I'm not sure where the sixteen thing came from, but Ben turned fourteen in Exile and all the authors have stated that the series doesn't cover a great length of time. The books seem to follow directly on from the previous, with the longest breaks being days at best.

Maybe Luke will go decide to visit the worlds beyond "the galaxy far, far away" to learn new forces such as the advanced force ghost. He will then learn about the Force Ascension - and by that he will "die, not dying".

Regards.

Jaina, Ben, Jag, Zekk, Tahiri, Mirta, Lowie, Syal, Tenel Ka, Allana. Looks to me like we could have a pretty decent cast of characters.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And it's a shame almost none of them have been used properly in order to increase their potential to become main characters. Misused and abused.

It's at times like this, I wish that I was an EU author. If I was, you can bet that I would be giving all of these characters, as well as others from the "next generation" the page time and character development that they deserve.

Would have done the same for Jacen too, but it's too late for him now. angry Unless they need a good villain. thinking

Some say he already knows how to do this and thus does not need to go anywhere or seek anyone to do it. But I see what your getting at and I think its a good idea. Just as long as it isn't like what happened to Obi-Wan because some say thats how he went. Died without dying, that he became one with the force before Vaders saber struck him, to which I disagree. I believe he became one with the force as a result of Vaders blow but thats a matter of debate.

Yes, but would people still buy it?

Is it so hard for people to understand I want to read about Luke Skywalker and not his kids?

It's like a book about Patton vs. Patton's son.

Luke is a hero and so are Han/Leia. Their children are JUST THEIR KIDS.

Well, C19, I understand where you are coming from. Luke Skywalker is the original hero of Star Wars, so of course I understand why people are fascinated by him. Whenever I tell people about events prtrayed in the EU, I tend to avoid using the proper names of characters, like "Jacen Solo" or "Mara Jade", because they would not really know who they are. Instead I say things like "Han and Leia's son", or "Luke Skywalker's wife", because that is how they would be able to relate to them.

But at the same time, the EU fans want Luke to step out of the way so that newer characters like Jaina, Ben, and so on will truly be given a chance to shine, and they tend to say that Luke has to die for that to truly take off. But a part of me thinks that they are just going for the easy way. I mean, if you were an author, and you wanted to get rid of a character permanently, you could just kill them off, couldn't you? And I think fans are simply gravitating towards this, without realising that other characters can still have their time to shine without all of the big shots getting killed off.
