LEGACY OF THE FORCE
INFERNO
BY TROY DENNING
AUGUST 28TH
 
Luke Skywalker wanted to unify the Jedi order and bring peace to the universe. Instead his wife Mara lies dead at the hands of an unknown assassin, his wayward nephew Jacen has seized control of the Galactic Alliance, and the galaxy has exploded in all-out civil war.
With Luke consumed by grief, Jacen Solo works quickly to consolidate his power and jumpstart his plan to take over the Jedi. Convinced he's the only one who can save the galaxy, Jacen will do whatever it takes, even ambush his own parents.
With the Rebel confederacy driving deep into the Core to attack Coruscant and the Jedi under siege, Luke must reassert his position. Only he can lead the Jedi through this crisis, but it means solving the toughest problem Luke's ever faced. Does he fight alongside his nephew Jacen, a tyrant who's illegally taken over the GA, or does he join the rebels to smash the Galactic Alliance he helped create?

I swear I read somewhere that the book was pushed back until mid-September... I'm really looking forward to this one, and not just because of the possible Kyp/Luke "domestic partnership"...

Jag chuckled -- as he usually did whenever Jaina disagreed with Zekk -- then said, "To a degree. Does that mean you sense something?"
"Give me a chance," Jaina replied. "We just got here."
"We need time to attune ourselves to the local currents," Zekk explained. "It's not like that new ship of hers is a dark side beacon. It was just giving off a little aura before."
"So you're saying we need to make a second pass?" Jag asked.
"And probably a third and a seventh," Jaina answered. "It might take some effort to find her, but I'd bet my shirt that Alema is here."
Jag said, "I accept!" at the same time Zekk said "Okay!"
Jaina frowned, confused by their enthusiasm. "What?"
"Your bet." Zekk leered across the fuselage. "I accepted."
"Hey, I was first!" As usual, it was impossible to tell from Jag's tone whether he was joking, but Jaina thought he probably was. The only gambling she had ever seen him do involved starfighters and slim chances of survival. "The bet is with me."
"Ha, ha -- very funny," Jaina said. "What part of not interested don't you two understand?"

"I know you'll do the best thing for Hapes", Jacen said, sounding slightly amused. "I was asking about you and Allana."
"About us?" Tenal Ka was surprised by the question, for the answer was as obvious as it was painful. "You must know the answer to that already."
The color drained from Jacen's face. "What about hiding? I could ask the Fallanassi to take you in."
Tenel Ka smiled sadly. "That will work for a time, Jacen -- perhaps even until the Confederation grows tired of looking for us. But they can't rule Hapes without Hapan blood on the throne, and whoever they install as their puppet won't tire. The pretender will be too frightened of me or Allana trying to return, and she'll keep looking until we're dead."
Jacen's shoulders slumped, then he dropped back onto the couch and cradled his head. "Then we have no choice."
"About what?" Tenel Ka asked, alarmed by the desperation in his voice. "Jacen, if you are considering using something like Alpha Red --"
Facts from Star Wars Insider #95
*The galaxy goes to war: "fleets from Corellia, Bothawui, Hutt Space, and Commenor are moving on the Core Worlds, hoping for a decisive battle with the forces of Coruscant."
*Jacen tries to get the Hapan fleet from Tenel Ka. She allows it, with the condition that "Jacen makes his peace with Luke."
*Ben is suspicious of Jacen. He has to make a tough choice.
*That's Kashyyyk on the cover, as suspected. There will be a confrontation there.
*Threepio has "a brush with mortality."
*Saba confronts Jacen. Han and Leia make their "final break with Jacen."
*Jacen talks in his sleep, and has a security droid called SD-XX.
*Leia fights an Ewok. (I'm assuming Tarfang.)
*Denning is trying to put tension into the book, though he also tried to balance it with some humor. About him writing the final LotF novel: "I'm going to enjoy having the last word."

The decisive battle at Coruscant between the Confederation and the GA will be the Confederations undoing, Darth Caedus's Sith Master Meditation/Battle Meditation will unite his forces together and they will destroy the confederation easily, like in KOTOR1 when Bastila Shan uses her battle meditation to cordinate the Sith fleet and its forces and destroy the Republic fleet on the dark side ending, Caedus will wipe them out....all of them.
