*cough*

Ackbar wasn't rescued, he defected, the smelly little ingrate.

And after everything Tarkin had done for him. sad

Ackbar has fish stench? Maybe that explains why Tarkin was so eager to lose him on Eriadu. tongue

Well, that's what the Darksaber novel says.

I liked this book overall...Tarkin finally got some well-deserved humanity, even if he was hopelessly in love with Daala to the point of it being funny. All the ordinary people are nice to see for once, and they got a lot of characterization and emotion. Overall, pretty good.

You imply a disparity where none exists. The Rebels had to rescue a defector.

I'll just assume he has to answer to the name Daala when his notorious womanizer of a boss is deprived of appropriate company.

When I got to the Teh Roxxor thing, I had to stare at the page for a couple of minutes to be sure it wasn't my eyes deceiving me. As if the l33t 5p34k droid name and the liberal use of the word newbie weren't bad enough.

Droid: "I'm afraid Miss Daala is out for the night."

this book was worth the money purely for the 12.8km long Super-class Star Destroyer love mischief
and all those other little things that have been horribly mangled since Bantam, too.

I don't give a damn about the plans back and forth and found pretty much every storyline interesting enough, with the exception of only a few subchapters. Ratua was my favorite and Uli's defection was only a surprise in the way it was carried out, not that he'd do it all, what with MedStar and that medic-for-life order.

but I did wonder about Daala's memory, too. thanks for the reminder. Now I wonder what exactly she might have discovered that was lost forever...

Um, no. The Super-class ship Tenn fantasizes about being transfered to in the future is a reference to the fake schematics which were produced for the Imperial Senate, not the actual 19 km Executor-class ships which was built later (information which a mere gunner wouldn't have been privy to).

Though, we do know that there was at least one early "Super Star Destroyer prototype" that was in the 12km ballpark, a part of the "Sarlacc Project" in the period between RotS and ANH. According to the Dawn of Defiance campaign, it was "not the final version."

The "Super-class", however, probably does refer to the fake specs given to the Senate.

I just finished this book today and I absolutly loved it. The last 1/3rd where we see the original movie from Vader's persective...I have been DYING to read that for a long time. A long time. VAder & Tarkins reacion to Obi's death was hilarious!!! Poor old guillible ani. Yoda & Obi knew exactly how to play him like a fiddle. EVen when he's winning he's still losing. I kept beign reminded of Allegiance while reading the end sop i'm gonna re-read that next. I love reading about Vader's obsession with Luke. When are we going to see ESB & ROTJ from Vader's perspective?

I detested it.

It's rife with continuity errors, problems, and predictability. Naturally, it also makes the Rebels seem angelic.

The DS can target capital ships now?
Tarkin is completely unmanned by Daala and turns into a squealing fangirl?
Everyone on the station wants to be a Rebel?

dp4m, your recommendations need work. tongue

The 2nd death star targeted capitol ships in ROTJ without issue. Daala was fantastic to see if for no other reason then to acknowledge that the bantam books still exist in canon. I am disappointed they didn't try to explain KJA's now false death star origins from the jedi acadamy trilogy.

Which was supposedly one of the big advancements the second Death Star had over the first.

They already covered this in the New Essential Chronology, though revisiting it and exploring it more wouldn't have been a bad idea.

Very cool. I wasn't aware of either event. revisiting it would be good. If they'll erase KJA's death star bit like that whats to stop them from erasing Kyp or the Vong? That was a very big part of the JA trilogy. It's not that bad tho, as an old star trek fan i'm used to this sort of thing.
