>Bast is on the Overbridge with Tarkin when Tarkin gives the order to fire. Either he's a REALLY fast runner to make it to an escape pod, or that's not the Death Star Bast in the Holiday Special.<

The thing is that Bast surviving already made it into canon, kinda, in the conference room action figure pack. So that should be accounted for in some way. I agree that the man seen with Tarkin in that part of the movie could not have survived.

Yeah, the man you see in the Holiday Special is clearly his twin brother, Lesmod Bast.

Well, if Tarkin can have two lookalikes in Kirtan Loor and Aron Harcourt (though admittedly less so in Loor's case), then it's probably not too much of a stretch for Bast to have a lookalike of his own. It's a big galaxy, after all.

Just a thought: perhaps Death Star and the Holiday Special take place in a shared alternative universe, where Bast survives and Khurgee says Bast's line during the attack: after all, Khurgee is described as a lieutenant in the docking bay, rather than the Captain he is in canon, and it's once again a lieutenant who says this line to Tarkin in the novel.

If they are from the same Universe, where is Bea Arthur while all of this is happening?

She's on her wine break.

I'd actually love to see Bea int he unemployment role in SW.

Did you act on your vision of galactic annihilation last week?

No.

This week?

No.

If you don't try to overthrow the Chief of State by next week, you're going to have to file an extension.

I sat down and read about half of the book in two hours - very light read, but pretty scattered.

I don't mean to sound like i'm bragging, but I'm really curious over something that's come up. You know how big chain stores have a tendency to offer hardcovers at a much lower price than the suggested retail? A Hastings in my area was selling the book for $14.99, about 42% off. Has anyone else encountered something like this, or is it pretty widespread on this book?

At Borders, the copy I bought had a 20% off sticker in addition to the 10% I get for being a card member. So it's not unheard of.

Am I the only one who has issue with the Rebellion sending in a huge carrier with 100's of X-wings??? The Rebellion isn't supposed to be anywhere near that powerful before ANH, right??

And is it just me or was it written so that the construction seemed to take place in a handful of months? It seems highly unrealistic.
