Is it spoiler info if it was officially released? I think they revealed that on starwars.com...

actualy my sister worked at a movie theater when titanic was out. 2 months after its relies a guy was buying popcorn, she asked "what movie are you seeing?", to which he answered "titanic, my sis then jokingly replied "boat sinks". The man got seriously pissed she ruined the end of the movie, made her call the manager down to concessions, and actualy called the corporat offices and complained. true story

Yeah, was considering throwing in that tale into my post above, but really, what are you doing on a SW board if you don't know the Death Star explodes?

On second thoughts, do I really want to ask that?

I'm with Darth Rotten on this one. A book entirely about the Death Star isn't gonna come often, if ever again. Unless they take the opportunity to actually answer some long-standing continuity questions (which, according to the publicity about the book, is pretty much what was implied to BE in the book), and make some crooked ways straight, as it were, then it's essentially a WASTED opportunity.

Because I don't CARE about the average John Q. Lunchpail who works on this battle station. There've been any number of stories about the average Imperial, whether in comics, short stories, novels, etc. Some of these, such as the Janek Sunber storyline, have been done EXTREMELY well and had a tremendous impact on the saga. But I neither need or want that here, unless it reveals something about the told, botched, retold, rebotched, and re-retold story of this superweapon. That's what the publicity baited me with, and that's what I want. The average Imperial 9-to-5er stationed on the Death Star can go scratch. I'm not gonna open the book for him. Tarkin, Motti, maybe. But not the guy who sweeps the floors.

A nice speculative discussion between Dante Hicks and Randal Graves is interesting; making a complete novel out of it is a waste of trees. What's next, a whole novel about how the Lord of the Rings films were just about walking? "Even the trees walked in those movies?" Please.

alright...so no origin references.

Do they atleast clean up the "plans" mess? From Katarn to Bria Tharen to the whole EAW thing (I'm wagering they don't touch EAW).

What about Despayre?
Tarkin/Ackbar?

I've got to agree with some of what I was reading above. This book was promoted for the purposes of creating cohesion. Now learning about DS recreation will be an amusing page or 2, but the rest of it should focus on stitching the universe together.

Why there is a set of plans on Danuta, I already covered; yes, there's a very clever explanation.

Despayre is covered heavily in the first half of the book.

How off-duty gets spent on the Death Star.

The question is: Do they cover the Death Star Cantine? And if so, does Vader order the Penne a la Arrabiata? And is there an appearence by the nefarious 'Mr Stevens' or 'Jeff Vader'?

Kudos to anyone who gets the reference tongue

It's probably not that important, but the release date on the stickied thread is still Sept. 25. Dunno if it really matters though.

>Why there is a set of plans on Danuta, I already covered; yes, there's a very clever explanation.<

This makes me nervous, as this was already explained in the Dark Forces graphic novel and expanded on in the Dark Forces Saga articles. Danuta was one of many sites where the Death Star plans were developed--the planet is close to the Kessel system and Maw Installation. The plans only covered a certain portion of the station's total designs, which is why they needed the Toprawa plans as well. I don't know what more explanation is needed.

I'm actually looking forward to reading about the off-duty areas of the Death Star. We've known that there were shopping malls and cantinas on the station since the Death Star Technical Companion, but this information hasn't been touched on much since then.
