Hmm. I missed the thread, if that's so.

I don't recall anything in the game specifying that; I can pull it out and take a look sometime in the next 24 hours, maybe (definitely in the next 48), but I'm not recalling anything specifying that. I thought it was just a general situation where the Republic was making a counterattack against the initial Sep invasion, which would have had to have been a bit before RotS. The only thing I remember them specifying about the timing was that it was pre-RotS and that it would introduce Grievous and the MagnaGuards. That said, it's been about a year since I've played it.

And that doesn't make sense in any case. The campaign was ongoing when Yoda came in. Even if that was the original intent (which, as I said, I don't recall being the case), it's easy enough to retcon only that line away. Hmm. Now I need to pull it out and look. tongue

The game gave a date for the mission that is actually early Year Three, I think. A little over two years into the war. That date has been said to be a mistake, and it's been said that they intended it to be a direct lead-in to ROTS. However, the fact remains that Tarfful is on Kashyyyk when he ought to be on Coruscant and Grievous is on Kashyyyk when he ought to be on Utapau. For those reasons, I've suggested that the given dating simply be observed. However, I'm betting that the mission can be make to work with some fiddling with the timeline; add in some breathing space between missions such that Tarfful and Grievous are both there shortly before ROTS, and the missions holding off the Separatist invasion are later, during ROTS, right before Yoda lands his forces.

I really hope she does well writing this and show how some of the Clonetroopers were a little torn about this issue. Because I personally believe that some of these troopers had a hard time doing all this and weren't all 'Oh yeah we're mindless killing machines! Destroy! Destroy!'. I bet some of them liked the Jedi but knew that if they disobeyed Palpatine would blow up their brain or eat it.

I think that Battlefront II implied that some of them may have been hesitant about it, but that like the good soldiers they were, they followed the order without question. Well, most of them, anyway.

The general impression I had, at least, was that the very final stage with the AA guns was as Yoda and/or Quinlin Vos were arriving on planet. Either Yoda was already on planet and the troopers were hitting the Sep ship to cover Vos' incoming ships, or that it was Yoda that was incoming and he's the one who the commandos were covering.

Vos was on Kashyyyk at least a day before Yoda, according to The Hidden Enemy. Sheesh, the events of Republic Commando are almost as hard to fit into the movie as Lethal Alliance is to ANH...

Yeah, Karen and I were going back and forth about the timeline issues not long ago when I boosted the text file of all the dialogue on that mission out of the data for the game for her.

I think Leland has said the in-game date was wrong (although I don't have time to search the Cron thread), but it still leaves the question of how long Delta were on planet up in the air, so they may well have seen Grievous during a pitstop, or it could be a trick by Grievous to lure the Republic away by using a fake.

Who knows how it'll be written up in the end, since there are plenty of possible avenues. I'm just glad LA has been nice enough to allow the use of Delta. If nothing else, I think in TC they serve the needed goal of offering a different view on Omega and Kal's gang, because it's clear that they are not happy about Omega becoming "Mando boys" and turning the barracks into Mando Town. It's a needed view from outside of Kal's circle that shows that Omega are really the odd ones out in the army.

Vos, Aayla, Hett, etc. left Saleucami no earlier than three weeks before ROTS. Though I bet the TV series will use Aayla, at least, and mess the whole timeline up there.

No, it's not confirmed. They just had to leave him behind.

The fact that the rest of Delta wanted to rearm and go back after him, however, suggests that they at least believed him to be alive.

Oh noes, SW Galaxies is or isn't now part of regular EU continuity. In it, you can get a mission from an old but not that old Clone that was stranded on Kashyyyk, got out & made his way to Corellia. He gives you an obviously fake name, drinks & has a cyber arm & if you help him out he will give his old Katarn class Commando armor. For whatever reason, he's appearanty also got a paint kit there with him in the cantina, he painted my armor matte black with green highlights.

And wow... I didn't think the original version could get uglier - but this definitely tops that one!

Well, it's certainly striking.

I'm not sure anyone over 16 would be that thrilled about being seen with it in public, but hey.
