I'm glad I asked Sue that question. I think she's really lost the plot if she believes long series were good things to do. And she's head of Lucasbooks? Good god.

Thank god for Dark Horse and their superior plot and characters.

May be the novel contract should be given to Dark Horse since they been doing a better job at comics then their novels counterpart. It will be interesting to see a new publisher since the contract should be ended by December 2008.

Unless of course, they have been renewed it without us noticing and the novels have once again been tainted by their little slimy green hands of money.

Personally, I'd like to see anything that's not a massive series...

Fate of the Jedi I could be the start of a massive series! wink

BTW, which contract / publishing house does Aaron Allston's above forthcoming novel come under?

Del Rey. Their contract has apparently been renewed in some way, shape, or form, but the details are still not forthcoming (things were still being ironed out last we heard).

No, I do not want Dark Horse to do novels, and quite frankly, I'm going out on a limb here but even though the Legacy comic books have been a huge success, it is obvious that the comic books are a repition of the same thing over and over again. The only thing is that we get the same type story over FOUR different arcs and on a monthly basis instead of every other month and with a 300 page no pictures count. How many more chosen ones can we tell, the sith coming back to conquer the galaxy with a light stick and some force powers that can't kill the vong, and even less the clones. These stories are getting old, stuff like Redemption, fear, anger, hate, destruction, jedi and sith who are suppose to be special beings but get killed like punks. A galaxy battling becuase of a theocracy jedi vs sith belief. No....please just leave everything how it is and hopefully star wars can start dying off.

Um...the Vong invasion had nothing to do with the Jedi/Sith...neither did the underlying cause of LotF.

Sounds to me you're just burnt out on SW.

What an odd statement to say on the Star Wars lit board...I think Whizkid is right. Take a break. In a year or two take a look if you're interested again. There are just too many great books out there to waste time with something that doesn't feel right. peace

I got burnt with star wars a few years back. Nothing worth buying, too much teen feed advertised as adult reads. Returned with Dark Nest. Bought couple of Legacies, did not like them, so cancelled that series purchases. Were it not for Repcom what could I buy? Taking a break is good and allows you to return refreshed, like a F5 on your keyboard.

My utilisation of complex locution to ask what's more pathetic, fans who worship their
movie actors, or the actors who couldn't give a damn, is more a reflection of my own
superincumbent mental actuity than any circumscribed lexicon. Don't you agree?

*presses F5 now*

Sorry Ex, didn't work. wink

I still have hope for Del Rey, not at the NJO end of things. TUF

Allegiance renewed me with hope for SW, and Stover's Mindor book I'm going to read. Other than that though, there isn't much unless you follow the series (which I don't).

Anyone else think that perhaps there is no new contract?

Maybe they are operating sans-contract under the pre-existing rules.

It's like using your cell phone after your "contract" expires...they continue to be the source, but that could change at any time with no penalty.

I kind of like the notion of making the publisher think they could lose this license at any time...maybe it'll make them step up.

Exactly. If I didn't get a lot of enjoyment out of reading SW I wouldn't read. There are too many great books to read, video games to play, albums to listen to, and movies/shows to watch. Time is limited. You must do what you enjoy. Treating SW as a job or a chore is so foreign to me.

It's true! I took a very long break after trying DN 1 and not being able to get through it and then coming back when Inferno came out on paperback and I heard Mara died and wanted to go back and see what led up to that. I even went back and read DN which I got into way more because of the break. I think initially it was hard because the organic bug Killik stuff was kind of close to the Vong stuff in a weird way for me so I kind of tuned out the first time. Anyway, everything was going fine... and then Invincible came out. sad
