DKM, gotta say Last One Standing is probably the best SW story I've read. I never thought I'd get a chance to say this to you in any shape or form. Anytime I think of Fett, I think of how you wrote him.

Specific words they censored out of my stories included "hell," "damn," "whore," and "pootang."

But "jizz band" was OK.

OK, I made up that about pootang. I didn't even try that one.

Jizz band laugh What were they thinking??? And thanks to that last line I will not be happy untill "pootang" makes it into a Star Wars story.

I turned in and had approved an outline for a story about what happened to Boba Fett after he fell into the Great Pit of Carkoon. Short form -- the sarlacc is self-aware, Boba Fett spends years down there being digested and commingling memories with the sarlacc -- eventually Fett breaks his way free, and returns to Tattooine for years afterward, to kill the sarlacc very, very slowly ....

drooling

In all fairness, I'd wager that the people who were so keen on changing and censoring the Fett stories back then are long since gone, given what we've seen from the EU in the last few years...all sorts of violence and depravity in Shatterpoint (Daniel, if you liked Stover's RotS novel, you'd love this), up to and including allusions to rape, and as for the language issue, all I have to say is "bugslut". raised_brow

Kevin J. Anderson has, at long last, redeemed himself. Partially. As an editor. But it's something.

i wont go that far. but i will say my opinion of him just went up a notch. his books were still aweful, and the only worthy character he came up with was Kyp.

Has anyone read any of DKM's original stories? I recently tracked down a copy of Emerald Eyes, the first novel in his Tales of the Continuing Time series. It was... interesting, although I didn't think it was nearly as well written as his Star Wars stories. The book was published fairly early in his career, however, and it did leave me very much wanting to know what happens next. I'll definitely be hunting for the rest of the series.

Unfortunately, out of the 33 books the afterword to Emerald Eyes alleges the series will eventually span, apparently only three and a short story have ever been published. doh!

Um, anyway, to stay somewhat on-topic... anyone have any ideas how to make the line "Fett swore in his native tongue" make sense after AOTC and LOTF? I mean in a cool way, not just saying it was the author's roundabout way of saying he swore in Basic. And why do religious oligarchies remind Fett of his youth?

Yep. Jango raised him speaking the native language of Concord Dawn, which I would call Concord Dawn-ian but figure ought to have a more creative name.

Concord Dawn is (was) ruled by a religious autarchy.
