I agree completely that the grey area is far more interesting. I think that is what draws me so much to this series, and that's why I'm also such a fan of LOTF. It's not the same as absolute dark vs absolute light. and for this, mr Ostrander, I applaud you. I may sound like a kiss ass, but I am an absolutely devoted fan to the Legacy series, and this is one of the reasons why.

But did anyone notice Cade's pre-Mynock tattoo?

If I am seeing the tattoos correctly it looks like Cade is wearing Rav's Bloody Bones insignia, prior to him adding a skull to the middle of the design and making that his mark. So this gives us another clue/direction that the picture was taken prior to Cade having his own crew and ship.

I also noticed that both Rav and Syn have adorned themselves with pieces of the loot, while Cade has not. Perhaps he is not thrilled with how/who the loot is obtained. Maybe we will see here in flashbacks how Cade and Syn earned their freedom and the mynock, not only would it make an interesting story, it would help fill in events from Cade's past.

Did he add the skull or is it a completely different tattoo? *squints*

Interesting points you bring up. It could also be mentioned that Cade changed his pre-Mynock tattoo but Syn didn't.

And while we're on the subject of tattoos, I wonder if Cade will keep the Sith tats now?

Well Legacy 0 makes the point that Cade altered the Rav's bloody bones tattoo himself and added the skull, so I would assume that it is the same tattoo, especially given the similarities between the two. If he got a completely new one I would guess there would be more differences.

Also I don't remember him getting any sith tattoos...Did I completely miss it or are they more subtle, more confined than the normal sith ink?

Ah - thanks for the clarification. I'd forgotten about that in 0.

He gets the black 'Sith tats' (I guess that's what they are) on his right arm and left hand between issues 16-17. Here's a pic.

Ahh, yes they are a little more subtle than the normal all over sith tats. It will be interesting to see if he keeps them, I suspect that given their location and non-obvious appearance he is likely to keep them, perhaps as a reminder of his time in the sith temple.

Given the symbology present throughout Legacy (sith tats, different faction emblems) one has to wonder if a jedi symbol or mark will make an appearance. It would serve as a nice counter balance to the sith look, and would perhaps represent the refomration of the jedi order (when that happens in the series).

As a slight aside, I keep having this image of Cade dressed in a hybrid jedi robe/GA armor. Imagine black rebel armor that Luke is dressed in for the Rebellion promo's and give it a GA motiff (Blue with a red or grey GA logo), and then cross it with the clone wars armored Kenobi (Armor and robe mix) and that is a living symbol of the last Skywalker taking back his jedi and GA roots...Man I wish I had some artistic talent, but I might try a photoshop mashup

I can see reasoning both ways. One, that he would get rid of them to sever ties with the Sith in the interest of being "controlled by nobody" as he said to Krayt in 19. Or two, like you said, keep them as a reminder of the past/warning for the future type thing.

(Then again, if Deliah can't stand the sight of them, he might not want to go to sleep around her, LOL.)
