This is something I've been asked about recently and have been unable to really answer... how good are the internal sensors on starships? I know they can detect weapons fire ala ANH and apparently can track lifeforms if I'm remembering RotS correctly, but just how sensitive are they? Could they detect a weapon brought on a ship because of its power pack?

Any enlightenment would be great...

If I remember right, there was a mention in one of the old Lando books about a world where a blanket no-weapons policy was enforced by way of a worldwide weapon-detection system-- so a shipboard one oughtn't be too.

Than again, seeing how easily people sneak around on ships, they can't be that good a lot of the time.

A world with no weapons is easy enough: NO weapons. Sense them, take them out.

Trying to enforce that on a warship is... just amusing. tongue

Most non-capital ships have no sort of good internal sensors -- not evne the Falcon really had them. Slave I did, obviously, but that's a whole different story.

Capital ships probably vary based upon use -- like a passenger liner would probably have weapons scanners, but an ISD or Death Star would have really good scanners, but recall that even on the DS the troopers had to scan the Millennium Falcon by hand really...

Weapons scanners don't really show up on the Wook. There are scanners that can detect weapons once they've been fired, but that's more from a measure of emmission.

Metal detectors?

Metal detectors? Droids with x-ray scanners?
