SWTOR.com posted:
Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow led his armies in an aggressive campaign to destroy the Galactic Republic. Though the Sith were successful at first, the Jedi Order rallied back to defeat their dark counterparts, systematically destroying the Sith civilization on Korriban.

Unbeknownst to the Jedi however, the last Emperor of the Sith managed to escape the carnage and fled into Deep Space with his most trusted Dark Lords.

Random thought, but reading that part of the Sith history again... how feasible would it be that Naga Sadow was never the Emperor, but rather just one of the Dark Lords of a larger Empire? i.e. the Dark Lord of the "Korriban Sector", appointed by the Sith Council of Sith Lords of the "Korriban Sector"; but with there still being an Emperor of the wider Sith Empire?

As a Dark Lord, that would then just have made Naga Sadow one of many "Grand Admirals", so to speak, and his invasion only the first offensive of a much larger Great Hyperspace War. In essence, he'd just have been a rogue admiral who made a pre-emptive strike without obtaining the backing of the Dark Council (the Council of Dark Lords not just the regional Sith Council of Sith Lords) and the Emperor.

I very much hope that is not the case, as I badly want the Emperor to just be someone who arises during the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War... but reading that page again all the talk of Dark Lords as not being the Emperor tweaked my suspicion.

Agreed. I hate the idea of retconning Sadow in the manner that you suggest ... it completely undermines the point of GAOTS and FSE and makes him and his Korriban Sith out to be complete chumps. Boo.

The Korriban Sith were already chumps. tongue

But yes, diminishing Sadow would be unfortunate.

"Your progressive ways will ruin the Sith Empire, Naga Sadow!"

"They've killed old Simus!" "They are monsters."

Yeah, "chump" and "KJA character" kind of go hand in hand.

Still, no reason to make any KJA-penned events or characters any stupider than they are at the moment.

It should be salvaged rather than written off at least.

BETA is close! grin Well their private beta at least... he's a snip from an interview with the developers on the last day of E3

Gophn.com: Well, another thing we were wondering was when you get to beta stage, are you going to be having a certain amount of groups doing beta to test how it handles on the servers?

GW: Well, it’s a long time until we do that.

Gophn.com: Oh, I understand.

GW: We are close to beta though. Close to beta we are running through our own community. We have people signed up. We have about a quarter million people signed up. And we understand what their system specs are. So you know we’ll start with a lot of small testing and we’ll move on from there. Again, we’ve done a lot of in-house testing with outside people already. We do a lot of focus testing. We do a lot of version builds testing along the way because you can’t really make games without consumer feedback.

So, I finally saw that ancient announcement video.

This caught my attention:

Daniel Erickson, senior writer guy posted:

One of the things that’s happened in the meantime, in between them, is that the Sith Empire – the *Ancient* Sith Empire – has actually been rediscovered. What we had before this in KotOR is we had people who were creating... sort of recreating the Sith Empire, and coming back declared themselves Sith and then had a bunch of people they said were their Sith Empire. Now we have the *actual* Sith Empire, which means we’re not conquering one planet, we’re coming in en masse. So, the Sith Empire has re-emerged, gone to war with the Republic, has really ground the Republic into the ground and then there was a very tenuous peace...

What the heck? Like, the first two sentences make sense but, come on, from what we've seen the Revanchist Sith Empire was considerably more successful than the 'actual' one, given that they were poised to conquer the galaxy after only two/three years or so whereas the 'actual' one has... uh... well, been taking it's sweet, sweet time. (Which'll be cool if it turns out the Emperor is deliberately impeding his own Empire... otherwise not)

Then again, I suppose the Star Forge was a pretty large advantage.... thinking

Don't know what this "we're not conquering one planet" thing is supposed to mean, either. Unless we're supposed to believe that the Revanchist Empire conquered one world at a time? silly

EDIT: As an aside, it'd be kind of cool/interesting if the Republic of the KotOR era officially refused to acknowledge the Sith Empire as the Sith "Empire", seeing it instead as the "Sith Rebellion" of would-be secessionists led by their Revanchist Jedi Lords (given that it's basically ex-Republic vs Republic). That would jive with the KotOR having the Republic referring to the "Sith" almost exclusively, as opposed to the "Empire" or "Imperials".#

Jedi (instigated and led) Civil War also makes more sense as a name if the Republic never acknowledged the Revanchist Sith Empire's claims to being a sovereign power.

This is an imaginary story... aren't they all supposed to fit together, though?
An animated cartoon about Obi-Wan and Padawan Anakin would have made more sense.

At the quote contained within.

"You thought our original Sith were bad enough, but--psych!!--these guys are the real Sith and they're 200% more evil than before, even though they've just sat on their hands for three centuries until now" ... well, "daft" is the best word that comes to mind.

And this is surprising because... ?

We've known this was coming ever since the end of KOTOR II.
