Unbeknownst to the Jedi however, the last Emperor of the Sith managed to escape the carnage and fled into Deep Space with his most trusted Dark Lords. Random thought, but reading that part of the Sith history again... how feasible would it be that Naga Sadow was never the Emperor, but rather just one of the Dark Lords of a larger Empire? i.e. the Dark Lord of the "Korriban Sector", appointed by the Sith Council of Sith Lords of the "Korriban Sector"; but with there still being an Emperor of the wider Sith Empire? As a Dark Lord, that would then just have made Naga Sadow one of many "Grand Admirals", so to speak, and his invasion only the first offensive of a much larger Great Hyperspace War. In essence, he'd just have been a rogue admiral who made a pre-emptive strike without obtaining the backing of the Dark Council (the Council of Dark Lords not just the regional Sith Council of Sith Lords) and the Emperor. I very much hope that is not the case, as I badly want the Emperor to just be someone who arises during the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War... but reading that page again all the talk of Dark Lords as not being the Emperor tweaked my suspicion.

Daniel Erickson, senior writer guy posted: One of the things that’s happened in the meantime, in between them, is that the Sith Empire – the *Ancient* Sith Empire – has actually been rediscovered. What we had before this in KotOR is we had people who were creating... sort of recreating the Sith Empire, and coming back declared themselves Sith and then had a bunch of people they said were their Sith Empire. Now we have the *actual* Sith Empire, which means we’re not conquering one planet, we’re coming in en masse. So, the Sith Empire has re-emerged, gone to war with the Republic, has really ground the Republic into the ground and then there was a very tenuous peace...
